What is your fav. game intro? I like those cartoonish, like Superfrog or Premiere, they are nice. Very nice intro with superb music had Realms of Arkania, or well known Turrican 2. But my probably most favourite one is the Captive II: Liberation. It rocks!
And - of course - there are special CD intros for CD32, like Tower Assault or Cannon fodder.
Nice rendered intros have Killing game show and Aquaventura, and very impressive is the one from Nemac IV.
Your opinions and recommendations? _________________

Yeah, those you mentioned are nice
But my all time favorite is the intro of "Another World"
OMG! the feeling... the atmosphere... the music... the graphics... and it directly puts you into game!!!
More... could be the ones from "Periphelion", "AmberMoon", "Fire Force"... _________________ "I used to be an Amiga user like you, then I took an arrow in the knee." |

Shadow of the Beast 2 - when the roof is torn off the house - cracking intro
Xenon 2, Blood Money, Shadow of the Beast and Treasure Trap for their brilliant musical intro's
Cinemaware always did a good job of setting the scene, It Came from the Desert did that job brilliantly _________________ Fave Amiga Games:

Yesterday I saw again intros of Lionheart, which is nothing special, and Entity - very, very foolish
You mentioned for example Xenon II - but I think it has not an intro. It is only one picture with music, so nothing to say Intro, altough the music is awesome. As INTRO I mean something with a (at least short) story. I think Cannon fodder hasn´t pure intro too, except the brilliant one in CD32 version. And Another World and Flashback - of course, nice ones!
And another good one: Lure of the Temptress. _________________

I always really liked the rendered Psygnosis intros and KGS in particular.
I used to stop into a local games shop on my way home from school just to watch it playing on their display Amiga.
Also
Armour Geddon Intro and Outro
Birds of Prey

The intro in It Came from the Desert is short but sweet.
Shadow of the Beast II had a visually stunning one.
But maybe my favourite is still Another World. The whole game is like a giant intro... |

And what about Syndicate, or - one of my most beloved - Settlers... a lot of strategy games has a nice intros. Anyone remember Vulcan´s Tiny troops? Or, of course, famous Dune II. Special forces have cool anim in front end, too. _________________

Another World, Shadow of the Beast, Birds of Prey, Speedball II, Gods, Leander, Lotus III. Oh, and the crazy intro to Narc, and the headbanging intro to Jumping Jackson. _________________ -=Into the Wonderful=- |

At least - Speedball II and Gods are another examples with poor intros - only some text over one picture.
Hey, Dastardly, a horrible thing: I have a copy of Gods, cracked by someone, where all the intro (incl. that wonderful music) is MISSING!! _________________

You don't need beautiful animation which looks like an actual motion picture to have a good intro, tho. That's my opinion, anyway. I knew I would cop some flak for those two, but I personally listed those two games because I think they have great intros.
Gods has the great looking writing which flashes on your screen, the very cool picture of a helmet, one of the most lovliest intro music tracks, and, if you don't press fire, goes on to tell the introduction to the story of the game, in some lovely prose. I particularly like the bit where it says something like, "Hercules sets off for the City...ready to carve one more story on it's walls." Pure class!
Speedball II I also really liked - I liked the "typed" lettering appearing on the screen, and then, all of a sudden, perhaps what is the coolest, most funkiest and most memorable track in Amiga music history starts powering away.
So yeah, just my two cents. Long and detailed intros are nice, but simple intros can be just as poignant and special, if done right and done well, IMO. _________________ -=Into the Wonderful=- |

It is probably about feeling of meaning of the word "Intro" itself. Do you think that Agony has an intro? There are only two sentences over the picture with burning tree: "Alestes metamorphoses into an owl. The time to fight has come."
Is it an intro? In my meaning not. Similar to Gods and Speedball in basic. It is difficult to recognize what can and what can not be called intro... I don´t know exactly. Because - for example - Pinball Illusions had great... what? Intro? Or only "front end"? _________________
