What was inside as far as upgrades were unknown to me until now. It included an 80MB HDD, as well as a GVP RAM card with 4MB RAM. There's another slot on it to bring it up to 8MB, but from what I hear GVP cards don't take standard 72-Pin SIMMS, so that will have to wait. Another bit of interesting information is that there was a program on the HDD that seemed to be for displaying news messages like those seen on local cable TV stations. Simple text messages and advertisements were displayed in a slide show while the program was running. Unfortunately, due to it taking up more than half of the HDD's space, I had to delete it
Now the tedious process of putting games on Amiga disks has begun
I don't have a null modem cable, so the process goes something like this:
ADF file -> file splitting program -> 2 720k Formatted floppies (this takes awhile to make in Windows XP...) -> file joining program -> ADF file -> ADF Writing program -> Amiga formatted floppy (again, takes awhile to make)
Repeat for each disk. Needless to say, this is going to take awhile
I've been having difficulties running R-Type and Golden Axe. In Golden Axe, the screen rolls, and in R-Type, I get the title screen and then a message in red text with a red flashing box around it saying "Software Failure" and a bunch of random stuff after that. I've tried two different R-Type ADFs, one of which was from Factor 5's own website
EDIT: Now I've tried R-Type II. It seems to work at first, but as soon as you get into the game it flickers a LOT (approaching ships appear to be many ships one behind enother, and the stars in the background are choppy. About 45 seconds into the game, it crashes |

GVP 1208? In that case you also have SCSI-II controller

Scala?

Try to find Amiga compatible PCMCIA network card. I have five

Is there a way to disable extra RAM? Switch anywhere? |

I checked out the model number, and found out that it's actually a GVP A1230 Turbo+! So I not only have a RAM expansion card, it's an accelerator card as well
I'm pretty sure that's the name. It asked for a "Scala key" when I tried running the program directly. I put a little yellow adapter (which I didn't know the purpose of until then...) into the joystick port and restarted. Then it started displaying the messages on the TV

I have one, but it's a 3Com and from what I've heard, they don't fit well or have good compatability (with a couple of exceptions...) I could be wrong though

I didn't see any switches. There's a whole load of jumpers on the card, but I wouldn't want to mess with them without knowing what they do... |

This install disk may be useful.

I have several 3Com 3C589D based cards (Etherlink III), and they work just fine. Check 3c589.device, it might support your card.

Is there any way I can get that install disk in .ADF format? I don't know how to deal with .DMS files... |

.DMS archives are packed with DiskMaSher[/url], you can use DMS, xDMS or ADFOpus to extract or convert then to ADF.
Anyway I believe UAE also opens them up into a TEMP directory (so you could may be able to get the ADF there). _________________ What now? I don't own an Amiga any more. Back to the 128D for me. |

| Does any of those unpack "protected" files? As the "protection" key is only 16 bits it's easy to find it with brute force - just unpack first track with every key until CRC matches. |
