Welcome to the first in what will hopefully become a series of edgy and trendy competition rounds! This first month, this wonderful first round heralds the arrival of...
A rather spiffy shootemup by the Bitmap Brothers, choose from several characters and bring death to all around you, and all with the help of a computer controlled friend, who will at least once steal your health and annoy the hell out of you :
Rules
This round of the competition starts now(10th April) and will end the 1st of May, 24:00 (midnight) GMT
Score as many points as possible.
Only one player can be human (either mode is okay).
Post screenshots with your highest combined score in this thread.
don't cheat! - the ghosts of old amigas will haunt you!
Dowload the game:
Here you go.
Current Scores:
The current scores, updated every two days by the very generous sydney!
Remember that new members are always welcome to play and get down to blasting dudes! _________________ If you spell Kim Lemon backwards you get "Nomel Mik", it doesn't really mean anything but I just thought you should be aware of it

| I'm assuming that you would combine your score with your CPU partner's, so you're not fighting it for points? |

I think that's a sensible way of doing things, just make sure that your piccy shows the score of both players and all will be good
Link fixed...and I didn't expect anyone to notice so damn quickly _________________ If you spell Kim Lemon backwards you get "Nomel Mik", it doesn't really mean anything but I just thought you should be aware of it |

As some of you may know Im the co-webmaster of The Chaos Regime (see my signature). At TCR kametyken and myself have had a 'Score Hunt' for the game Gods for the past few months now and some very impressive scores have been achieved. When I realized that The Chaos Engine was likely to be the first game in Lemons competition I had an idea.
After discussing it with kametyken, Kim and The Dark Prince it has been decided that the winner of this competition will also have their score displayed at TCR in the Chaos Engines very own brand new score hunt.
So if you win you will also get your name up 'in lights' there as well as here
Good luck to all _________________ The Chaos Regime - http://www.gods-country.de/

Thunderer, we are adding the score of the A.I. player in this game so your score is actually 5035.
I have such a bad hangover that I actually had to use a calculator to work that out

I finished the game with Navvie (34,220) and Preacher (14,880) for a total score of 49,100. I'd never attempted to play Chaos Engine all the way through without using the level codes (I never thought score was all that relevant) but I've played through the game dozens of times (although a bunch of those were on two player - level 4-4 was much harder on one player!). I didn't think I was going to make it - Preacher was dead and I only had one life left after the one I was on.
I'll post some screenshots later today - I just noticed it's 6:19 a.m. where I am... I'm about to go to a full day of classes on no sleep because of this game.... Looks like I can add another comment to the "what games caused you sleepless nights" post.
On a side note, anyone have good suggestions on a quality place to sign up so I can post the screen?
Edit: please no one beat my score, for the first time in my life I'm tired of the game, although it was a rewarding experience. (It's a lot more tense when you can't use level codes!) I don't want to have to play through it again, at least not in the next 3 weeks. |

I need to use a calculator even without a hangover. _________________

Not for long mate

My competition pro arrived today!!
It's weird using a joystick again, but I'm sure I'll get used to it.
I never really got used to control pads, I always end up with a sore thumb. |

Well I am not exactly resting on my laurels (what exactly is a laurel anyway)!
7475
I play like a real man. I don't need joysticks to satisfy me, I use my fingers, eeerrm I mean keyboards. Bit difficult controlling diagonal shots though! _________________

I play this game with controller, but it's only D-Pad. Today I had four games of Chaos Engine, but didn't manage to improve my top score much, only few hundreds more So I don't even bother to post a pic, until I manage to get much more points.. _________________ |

Never, ever played this before. Was never a fan of the Bitmap Brothers... err.. with the possible exception of 2 Speedballs...
Something appears to have gone awry with my screenshot, tho:
4,610
I hate the way it's MOSTLY linear... you keep getting to intersections, and you KNOW that one way is a dead end with stuff in it and the other is the way to go, but I ALWAYS end up going the right way, which means I have to go back on myself to pick the stuff up, and then go back on myself again to set off again... until the next intersection... _________________ 'So, you want to be a pirate?
