|
|
There are a few facts that would make most PC/console fan go "what the???". I know at least two current well-known games developers started off making games on the Amiga. Based in Scotland is Rockstar North, formally known as DMA Design (of Menace, Lemmings and Hired Guns fame) went on to make GTA and the hugely popular GTA3. Then there is Swedish based Digital Illusions (with the unforgettable Pinball Dreams and Pinball Fantasies) bringing us the much anticipated PC game, Battlefield 2 (the screenshots are incredible, another excuse to upgrade my PC - again....).
Anyone got any other similar examples? I wanna hear! |

Yes, they're now owned by US company Take 2 Interactive, however, the Rockstar North HQ is still in Edinburgh according to their website (www.rockstarnorth.com). |

Eric Chahi, who did another world (and flashback too if I'm not mistaken), did a rather groovy PSX game called "Heart of Darkness". It was great fun to play, but the end was a bit annoying. _________________ If you spell Kim Lemon backwards you get "Nomel Mik", it doesn't really mean anything but I just thought you should be aware of it |

One of the all time great software houses, Elite, are still going strong, developing mobile phone games. The website is worth checking out as it names checks all their past history, such as Ghosts n Goblins and Paperboy

Another of course is Rare who were previously known as Ultimate Play The Game with their 8 bit classics Entombed and Staff of Karnoth. Then came the MEGA selling Donkey Kong Country series. Agai, it's nice to have a website that remembers their humble beginnings as it mentions all their old 8 bit classics

Origin Systems was around for a long time until they were bought out by EA games. Then EA fired everyone and dismantled the company, and proceeded to churn out a few terrible games with the Ultima name on them.
If they would have kept the original teams they could have had more best-sellers. Why stick with a winning formula, right? |
