Well, the physicists among us seem to have some trouble finding their voice, but the optical experiments of last month have inspired you to study further it seems with the tremendous and challenging Vital Light (The link is to the CD32 version, but we will be playing the A500 version).
A game of placement, reaction and little people who live inside the computer. Last month we used colours of the rainbow to kill creatures, this month, we use them to destroy blocks. Oh, and the colours aren't actually a spectrum of colours, but you get the idea. I'll let the game speak for itself (and it will....ooooh it will), but have a gander at this:
The method of play is fairly straightforward, but I'll have the instructions scanned soon enough..
Rules
This round of the competition starts now(10th August) and will end the 31st of August, 24:00 (midnight) GMT
Score as many points as possible in one player mode.
Post screenshots of your high score in this thread, (it would also be nice if you could scale them a bit, but don't worry if you can't).
Don't cheat! - I will be forced to zap the bricks of your house to a similar colour so they EXPLODE! (Errr....and for those who have houses made of other materials - I'll zap them too.)
Dowload the game:
Here you go.
Current Scores:
Remember that new members are always welcome to play and get down to blasting dudes! _________________ If you spell Kim Lemon backwards you get "Nomel Mik", it doesn't really mean anything but I just thought you should be aware of it

It doesn´t seem to work in my WinUAE (predefined A500). Could you specify the working configuration? I can see only cracktro and the the game stops loading on track 11 and only black screen is there...
EDIT: It is silly, but the game stops loading on track 40 in A600 config... but the result is the same - black screen...
I tried the other versions that are to be downloaded from PlanetEmu, but no one works for me (?) _________________

| It will work with an a500 config except it needs more memory. set 1mb chip and 1mb fast and it should work fine. |

Here is my first attempt, anyone know how many levels there are?
What about continues? I think no, even though I used em for the above score

No continues, then? Here's a no continues:

Bit fiddly, this game. Lots of disk swapping on my version too. Is there a one disk version anywhere without those rubbish heads on it? _________________ 'So, you want to be a pirate? Well you've picked the right place to start.

| To avoid the heads, and a lot of disk swapping, select 'no' when asked if you want to connect to the mags. |

I think my score came to around 11,000 and that was using all three continues
I clearly need more practice, especially if we're sticking to one continue. |

Uhm, I can't get the game started....I have mounted both the disk images, but "insert disk 2" is just appearing, and nothing happens...what am I doing wrong?
Long time since I last used WinUAE |

The game doesn't recognise df1:, you have to swap disks in df0: |

Remembered now how to swap disks "in-game"
But damn what a difficult game.... |

| This one isn't garnishing much interest.. I had a quick blast the other day, score was quite low.. but I'm gonna play more and practice a bit before I post a score! |

I'm progressing very slowly, my own learning curve is far shallower than the difficulty curve of the game itself.
Monsieur Le Dark Prince, post something! I need a benchmark _________________ 'So, you want to be a pirate? Well you've picked the right place to start.

Well, I have been away for a tick, which is why I haven't been saying much, and I also carefully forgot to bring back my original of Vital Light and all instructions, which I'm a tad annoyed about.
Anyway, after a brief search, there don't appear to be any instructions around. So I guess I'll just have to write down what I remember, should someone need instructions. Does anyone?

Must I? Oh, alright then:

I fully expect this score to be destroyed by the end of the competition, since I've gotten a fair bit further previously. Also, since most aren't getting very far in, you've probably all missed all the cool things the game has to offer, the reason I rather like this game is the sheer number of imaginative things that are thrown at you, but I'll let you discover them for yourselves...
I will say this though, the talking heads have a rather cool plotline, and some hints are provided across the levels, plus it really adds some class to what is essentially a puzzle game, the idea that they are your opponents is really quite imaginative, so check it out whenever you get somewhere new, if it's your thing of course.
If forced, I may have to do a review before someone else reviews it and marks it down 3 or 4 because it's too difficult and you need to use the diagonals all the time and it's more fun to play with infinite continues and block count. _________________ If you spell Kim Lemon backwards you get "Nomel Mik", it doesn't really mean anything but I just thought you should be aware of it |
