Intresting.
For sure is one of these thing you have to try out to judge it.
Nintendo's strategy now appears more simply than evere: we want the non-players, we give them an interface easy to use, smart, stilish to see.
Electronic Arts, Activision, Ubisoft and THQ have already said that they want to support the machine and this "pad". _________________ http://www.retrocritics.altervista.org |

Stupid... Idea's like that make companies go bankrupt.
There's really no better and straightforward controller than PS2's controller. It doesn't make sense to me why these multimillion companies chose to do things different (Even Microsoft Xbox game-pad is waaay to big, and the triggers aren't practical), and look stupid at each other asking what they did wrong when they eventually lose money, and yes.. go bankrupt.
I can already tell that Microsoft's Xbox 360 will go from BAD to WORSE if they don't support mouse/keyboard configuration for games, or some new sort of peripheral, which I discussed here. I'm surprised Xbox was doing good, since the console itself looks like bulky shit. We all know what happened to Commodore when they released Amiga CD32. _________________ My favourite games

I disagree with the fact tath Dual Shock is the the best pad on the world.
Dual Shock was developed in the 2D era, and is perfcet for 2D titles or for "poligonal" 2D titles (such as Metal Gear Solid, a game with a bidimensional gameplay showed with a tridimensional graphics, or a Tekken or a Ridge Racer). In other words, old stuff with a new graphic...
Try to control Super Mario 64 with a Dual Shock and tell me...
Nintendo has invented the joypad as we know it (NES), later they were the first to put out a 6-buttons-ergonimic pad (SNES) e, most important thing, the firts to introduce a Joypad for 3D games, with the never-much-loved N64 pad.
There are some things, in this Revo pad wich still not convince me (like the external peripherials), bit i think the idea is great, for an economical point of view.
A pad with a iPod looking, to attract the new tecnology, consumism-sicked fanatics. A pad much simple to handle wich simplify the interaction with a more natural feeling between player and machine. All of that has only one objective: catch the non-videoplayers, who are scared by an interface too much diffcult to learn and master.
In facts, Nintendo does the only strategy it can: try to change the battlefield cause they can't compare with multi-billion corporations.
The point is: it will works? _________________ http://www.retrocritics.altervista.org |

The Revolution Controller is the beginning of the end of the "revolution". I think its the silliest (controller-)idea ever!
I think the PS2-controller is still the best one around. It is the smartest solution in terms of ergonomics, style and practicability.
Here is my personal controller ranking:
1.) PS2, Dual Shock 2 (see above )
2.) Dreamcast, original (also great)
3.) Gamecube, original (very good, but not for beat'em ups)
3.) PSone, original (a bit too leightweight, mediocre digicross)
4.) Xbox, small (better than the original monster, but bad button layout)
5.) N64, original (never got used to this one)
6.) SNES, original (good in those days) _________________ GURU MEDITATION |

I won't judge Revolution's controller untill I've tried it, but it sure does seem to be an interesting idea. Who knows, maybe it will be the next best thing since TAC-2
And if someone doesn't know yet what features this controller has, here a list:
- 3D Pointing. Sensors understand up, down, left, right, forward and backward.
- Tilt Sensitive. Controller can be rotated or rolled from side-to-side.
Buttons Included. Has a trigger on its backside, face buttons, and a D-Pad.
- Multifunctional. Has an expansion port which can be used with different types of controller peripherals. Analog stick with two trigger buttons planned for left hand.
- Wireless. Totally wire-free. Currently there are no details on the max distance, source or power, or otherwise.
- Rumble Built-in. Included as a standard in all the controllers _________________ |

In the cold light of day, isn't it a little ridiculous that each console has ONE type of controller associated with it? Shouldn't WE, the 'consumers', have some sort of say in how we play games? Obviously not, its all a part of the brand these days. _________________ 'So, you want to be a pirate? Well you've picked the right place to start.

As well as once games were released for every platmorm. Nowadays there's the tendence to monopolize titles... _________________

Megadrive/Genesis, original (joypad - loved it!)
Thats why I got the Gamepad Cobra because it was like the old Megadrive gamepad. The problem was that the gamepad was made by Creative Labs. One of the worst companies when it comes to driver/software and hardware support. _________________ What now? I don't own an Amiga any more. Back to the 128D for me. |
