I noticed on the front page that there is a request for box scans. I've got two questions, really:

1) How many box scans have been submitted but not uploaded yet?

2) Do they have to be scans, or will digital photos be OK? I ask because I've just received an Amiga with 90 boxed games, and the boxes are all in superb condition. I just don't know if they'd scan well, because I'm not flattening them to go in the scanner (which I've just been given too, and I don't know if that works)!

90 boxes in superb condition surely sounds very interesting! Smile

About 150.

I doubt the quality of digital photos will be up to the quality of scanned images. Have you tried scanning any boxes, and if so, how did they turn out?

I haven't actually tried scanning anything yet. I just got the games yesterday, so I've been cataloguing them. Plus, I haven't yet installed the scanner I was given. I'll try one when I can and see how it goes. Smile

I got the scanner working!

I made a test scan, which came out quite nicely. However, the scanner plate needs a good cleaning, and it does have a scratch which may interfere with the scans. It might not be noticeable on some scans, but it probably will on others. It is to one side, so I might be able to scan a lot of the boxes and just about miss the scratch, but we'll see.

Haha! The "scratch" was a hair! Laughing

I'll try and clean this up, and make a few scans.

Sounds very cool! Could you email a scan or too as a test? Smile

Sure! They're done on the "dirty" scanner, but they'll do as an example. Smile

I'll send it to the address on the front page now.

The quality is perfectly fine! Cool Feel free to send more once that scanner isn't dirty anymore! Thanks a lot for the help.

I've scanned about 16 boxes today. It's a bit late to start sending them now, but I will when I can.

Oh - are .rar files OK?

I've just sent the first archive. I've now scanned 25 games, covering 14 archives (which may need to be split further).

They take ages to upload, too!

You did actually receive the attachments? I've just noticed in my Sent folder that the attachments show up as being much bigger than they really are, and mostly over 20MB.
