|
|
I have created a section about different Amiga Kickstart ROMs.
It's far from finished and very crappy and confusing at the moment though!
The point of the page will be to determine the differences between the ROMs, which Amiga models they are used for and sort out any kind of confusion in general. The page is only about the ROMs and not the Workbench disks. I also want to add all kinds of trivia and information about the ROMs.
The problem is that I lack knowledge here, but I know that there are people on this board who can contribute with information! So please help me by posting anything you can possibly think of when it comes to certain ROMs and I will add the info to the pages. Feel free to correct any of my mistakes as well... _________________

Commodore never shipped an Amiga A1000 with Kickstart in ROM. They all had to boot Kickstart from disk. There were 3rd party devices that allowed one to install a Kickstart ROM and you could softkick a 1000 from 1.3 to 2.04.
Also, there was a Kickstart 1.0. I'll look around for the disks and see if I can find more information for you. _________________ Never confuse implied oral consent with expressed written consent. |

Earlier revisions of the A3000 used special "Super Kickstart Disks", essentially the same idea as with the Kickstart Disks of the A1000, but the images were bigger (512K) and could be stored on harddisk. The actual ROM of the machine was a 1.4 ROM, and 2.0 (NOT 2.04) was simply "softkicked".
