Hey Kim!
Cograts on getting it up again (the website, ahem).
However, I seem to be experiencing some rather nasty bugs. As usual it might be some compatibility problem when using Netscape etc.
Here goes:
·Scroll bar doesn't work. I can grab it (the cursor doesn't change though) but I can't pull it!
·My cursor won't indicate anything is linkable (the cursor never changes state), when moving it over a linkable object or linkable text.
·The website crashed my browser one time (this is a very rare thing so I was quite surprised)
·When entering LA I constantly get an IP out on my Netbarrier reading, this indicates something is being sent (or rather requested from LA) from my computer, which slows down the speed in about 1/2 of my bandwidth. I don't know what this is.
!None of these problems existed with the old LA?! And certainly not with L64.
I'm glad I managed to get into the forum at all, I hope you can fix these issues at some point, since I can't use LA in the meantime. _________________

Ok, it crashed after posting that message. It happend when the Superfrog animation started.
It ate up all incoming AND outcoming bandwidth on my connection and didn't go back to normal, very weird. I've replicated this bug several times now.
I'm writing this using Internet Explorer. Everything works fine in IE, but all above problems must be related to incompatibility with Netscape or other Mozilla browsers (perhaps) on Mac (perhaps).
I hope you fix LA back to the way L64 works (which works fine in Netscape), since I can't be visiting here then. _________________

Those are very strange bugs indeed. Lemon Amiga was actually tested on Mac with IE, Safari and Firefox and worked fine, but it hasn't been tested with Netscape on Mac.
It's very difficult for me to reproduce these bugs as I've been testing the site with the latest version of pretty much every browser available.
I will look into it, but I don't know what to do about it to be honest.
The problem seems to be with the Super Frog animation then. I need to detect if Netscape on Mac is being used and then disable the script there.
Which version do you use? _________________

A quick question...
When looking at the details of a game, are you suppose to be able to enlarge any of the screenshots? On one of the Zool games (sorry forgot which one - I looked earlier!), a couple of the screenshots didnt enlarge into the main area? Not sure if its a bug though? _________________ www.lemon64.com - For all C64 fans!

Yes you should be able to view them in full size. It might take some time for them to load though if the server is slow. Could you try again? It might not work with your browser, but really should as it's bascially the same script as on Lemon64.. which browser do you use?
Do the back, play, pause and forward buttons work? _________________

The scroll bar could be changed to the one on L64 which works fine in Netscape. Or perhaps the scroll bar issue is just symptomatic of the cursor state bug.
Also I am wondering why the cursor state change is bugged in the first place. Ok, just noticed another bug (probably caused by the cursor state bug): I can't select (mark) any text and copy+paste in this dialog box, it automatically assumes I'm holding down a modifier key (CTRL I think). Weird, something has gone very wrong with this interface.
Right now I'm using Netscape again, and all outgoing bandwidth is hogged by LA (making everything go very very slooooow).
Not only the Superfrog animation, also the snake is causing it. However the bandwidth hogging is going on even when there's no animation, I just noticed how the animation seemed to trigger it in the first place.
If you really want to fix it, you should look at what the differences are between L64 and LA, because that's where the dog is buried. However, I have no idea personally how to do it _________________

Sorry, the same. Which is a bit weird since the scroll bar still doesn't work, I would expect it to since it's often a frame-related problem with the scrollbar.
I did a get a few randon times where the cursor worked (changed to a hand when moving over a linkable object), but only a couple of times.
So some bugs are constant (such as the bandwidth prob and the scroll bar prob) but the cursor state bug is not 100% constant. _________________

Just discovered something. After entering LA, it's not just the website that works funny, the whole of Netscape is acting weird.
The menus and bookmark folders don't act properly, no cursors or selection markers... LA is spazzing out my browser _________________

Ok Holger, we need to talk about this, unfortunately I'm leaving for a trip to the forrest soon and don't have time to fix it today.
Do you have msn, icq or anything like that? Please PM me your contact details so that we can do some testing later on. _________________

Yes I'm on MSN.
I've posted a pic here that shows how LA "takes control" of the browser interface, affecting not only the content but the browser itself:
The normal behaviour shown above. When entering LA, the menus, cursors, functions and other stuff stops working correctly:
Interestingly, it's not only the particular window LA is opened in, but all other active
windows (previously opened or opened after LA) will stop working. Actually I want to congratulate you on being able to "hack" Netscape!
EDIT: ARGH, infact my whole computer is now not functioning when LA is opened, this might be due to the maximum I/O of data constantly being processed. A bit like when I'm using a filesharing program like LimeWire. _________________

Fix the best 50 / worst 50 votes.
Whilst eventually after enough votes it will fix itself, you need to put a calculation on the average vote.
The only "worst game" at the moment is Monkey Island, which has a average vote of 9 ! This is purely because more than 5 people have voted for it and thus it becomes eligible for the chart.
You need to filter the games for the worst list, say a average score < 5
And likewise for the best list - e.g. average > 7
If a game has a score of 6 then it won't appear on either list.
After a few weeks/months you can probably remove this filter. _________________ It's not me it's me brain!

Just done some more testing on a couple of games...
Zool 1 ( CD32 version) - When playing the sequence, it missed out second screenshot. Other functions seem to work ok.
Zool 2 (not CD32 version) - On Fwd, it only shows a few of the 19 screenshots.
Also what Holger said about LA hogging the bandwidth is true - In between looking at the above games, I checked emule (which is on my task bar) and it seemed to be not in use (ie nobody was uploading from me and it wasnt downloading). Its still taking an age once in the game details, and I also think the animation could be the possible cause of this slowness? I shall try the links you gave for the non-animation sleelction to see if I get any difference - By the way I am using Netscape 7.0....
Anyway, enjoy your forest trip!
EDIT - Just tried the first link above, and it works fine! A hell of a lot faster and no problems with the play sequence on Zool! _________________ www.lemon64.com - For all C64 fans!

Kim check out the above posts before we chat.
and BTW, I'm thrilled to see LA up again! Just looking at Amiga graphics gives me a warm fuzzy feeling, what is it about the Amiga and C64 that just melts my heart? _________________

Jim: Yeah, it was a wild guess on how the top/worst list would end up. I need to play around with that later when we have more votes, so that it shows fair results.
LeeT: I find it VERY strange that the site uses a lot of bandwidth because of a javascript as it really doesn't download anything.
Regarding the slideshow script, it works that way because it switches screenshots every 3 sec and if a screenshot hasn't loaded by then it takes the next one. I might change this later on. _________________
