Hello all!
My name is Nathan, but my moniker here is 'Shmup Jockey', as I adore all shmups (shoot-'em-ups) like R-Type, Gradius, and so on.
I am new to the world of Amiga and will be getting an Amiga 500 this week. I have also purchased Turrican 1 and 2, but other than that, have no Amiga games at this time.
I hope people will suggest new games for me to try--especially shmups as I have discovered that there are many of them on the Amiga--and maybe even help me track some of them down.
I am also interested in action games--like Turrican, RPGs, and Adventure games, just to name a few genres of interest.
I have been a console gamer since the early '90s and am just now learning about the joys of retro computer gaming. I hope I can learn from the best here at Lemon Amiga! _________________ Some of the best shmups have been on the Amiga: Apidya, Disposable Hero, Project-X, and so on. Simply amazing... |

| Welcome! Couple o' my faves are Midnight Resistance and Switchblade 2 which are similar side scrolling platformers/shooters like Turrican. |

Play Flashback now. Right now. Don't wait any longer to experience the greatest game on the Amiga.
Switchblade II is garbage. |

Hi Shmup Jockey--
So you're getting an A500, eh?
Are you planning on doing any games in emulation, or
are you doin only the 'real' experience? |

Wow, thanks for the greetings, everyone!
I have an A500--with a broken floppy drive
But a 'new' 500 is on the way, and it comes with everything I could dream of, including a joystick and Commodore dust covers for the computer, monitor, and external disk drive! Yes, just what I've always wanted--dust covers!
I also am going to buy a 1200 pretty soon, too.
I've found nearly a dozen Amiga games since joining here, so I'm probably going to be going Amiga crazy for the...rest of my life, likely.
I'll be sure to look into Midnight Resistance, Switchblade 2 (was there a 1?), and Flashback, as well.
Thanks again for the warm welcomes! I am feeling very at home here. _________________ Some of the best shmups have been on the Amiga: Apidya, Disposable Hero, Project-X, and so on. Simply amazing... |

welcome to Lemon, and welcome to the Amiga! I hope you have a lot of fun like we all do!
I think you have enough games to get started, but a couple to add to your soot'em up list is -
SILK WORM
SWIV
HYBRIS
BATTLE SQUADRON
And for some top down running around shooting action, check out -
ALIEN BREED SERIES
CHAOS ENGINE
These are just a couple more shooters to check out, these are more top down shooters, but a lot of fun... oh, and when you get that A1200, be sure to to get your hands on BANSHEE!
Anyways, have fun, and welcome again! _________________ Amiga 1200 2MB chip 7MB fast 4GB CF
