OK, I decided to stick my neck out a bit, and make a public version of the Lemonade installer I made for own use. Admittedly this means taking some liberties with Kim and Robert's body of work, so I will of course take it down at once if Kim want me to.

The reason I take the trouble to do this is because I really like Lemonade and want to make it as easy as possible for other to extend its lifetime. Perhaps there's no one interested any more anyway, but at least I've done something to contribute. Razz

Why would I want to use this?
-you want to use Lemonade, but have had problems with error messages popping up during install or during use.
-you want to make a Lemonade-based personal Amiga games collection compressed into one easily installable file.

What's the story? (Morning Glory)
I wanted to make a Windows XP installation with easily accessible Amiga emulation included in the set up, and my preferred option was Lemonade. Problem was, the dreaded flash.ocx error came up and made the whole unattended installation quit. In addition, sometimes starting Lemonade itself gave run-time errors.

The solution? To collect the dll and ocx files registered by Lemonade during installation (they are to be found in the registry) and simply unregister/register manually to see if it was possible to do without the culprits. It turned out, at least on my system, it was possible. Based on that an installer was made that simply avoided the files that seemingly made more trouble than gain.

Disclaimer
Chances are that those files are already on your system, so removing them from the Lemonade install does nothing else than minimizing potential conflicts. The installer is thoroughly tested in a couple of systems of mine and works beautifully, but don't hold me (and certainly not the Lemonade creators!) responsible if anything goes tits up.

What do I need, other than Lemonade?
For starters, WinUAE. I have found that WinUAE 1.52 is the latest version that works properly with Lemonade, without the "disappearing full screen" error. That is, the latest beta (WinUAE 2.0 beta14, found in this thread) actually also seems to work properly, which is very good news! Anyway, simply install it to its default location, Lemonade is already set up to point to it.

Kim's excellent screenshot packs are of course downloadable right from this site. Games and roms shouldn't be a problem neither. (*cough*tosec*cough*) All these things you put in its accordingly named folders inside the Lemonade folder in Program Files, just like always.

Does it work with Vista and Se7en?
Dunno. Only tested with XP myself. Guess is it works as well as standard Lemonade, but I'd very much like to find out.

Gimme some hard, technical info!
-The installer isn't a proper installer, it's not much more than a fully transparent hack made with WinRAR using a script file to do the install itself.
-When downloaded, please change the extension from .rar to .exe for the file to function properly. Esnips unfortunately doesn't like .exe files, hence the renaming.
-Installs in Program Files
-Uninstallation: Like the standard edition of Lemonade, but you probably need to manually delete the Lemonade folder.
-Install file size: 1.86 MB
-Download >>>HERE

But....you were talking about making a Lemonade-based personal Amiga games collection compressed into one easily installable file?

Oh yeah. It's really easy! Here's how:
-Open the installation file with winrar or 7-zip.
-Enter the Lemonade folder and simply copy the files you want into the according folders: The actual games into Games, screenshots into Screenshots, ROMs into kickstart ROMs. The install file itself will be updated with just the files you want to put there.
-Of course you must use game and ROM files that Lemonade recognizes.
-You can also include WinUAE in the installation. Just put it along with
the script file (lemonsetup.cmd) and the reg file (lemonade.reg), open lemonsetup.cmd and update the two lines beginning with REM.
-You could even manipulate the database file, e.g. by pre-scanning your game collection or setting up your favorite games, then put it back into the install file again. The file name is Lemonade\data\lmn.cab.
-Et voila! Your own compact, one-click Amiga collection.

That's it! Have fun. If anything's unclear (it's bound to be!), feel free to ask. If the installation doesn't work, please let me know in this thread.

Useless as long as the latest WinUAE version doesn't work with Lemonade. Don't use deprecated versions and systems, updates are here for a reason.
