You will need to fix your XBox with a chip. Some people can fix it for you, but it is pricy. In my city, these people do it for 80 euro's!
I mean, that is way too expensive. But without it, you can't play emulations on the XBox. _________________ International Karate is being remade on the PS2 |

You need to chip your XBox (As JN said) a good chip is the Xecuter 2.6, it's only Ģ20 too
I mod XBox's for Ģ40 which includes the chip but generally it'll cost about Ģ60-Ģ70 inc chip if you goto a shop!
Once chipped you just get WinUAEX and put it on a DVD with the kickstart roms and some ADFs and boot it on the XBox |

I just got my Xbox chipped for Christmas and the Amiga emulation seems pretty good (though I havent tried a great deal of games yet). The only problem is that it lacks a virtual keyboard (as does VICE, the C64 emulator) so sometimes it won't recognise keypresses.
Other than that, its defiently worth getting it chipped, especially if you are a fan of other emulated systems too (NES, MegaDrive, PCEngine etc).
(If you pm me, I will give you the details of who chipped mine). _________________ www.lemon64.com - For all C64 fans!

Itīs illegal to chip Xbox and play the games if you not own the real games. Both Amiga ADF files and kickstart roms are illegal so I canīt believe people in this forum actually mention it and say that they can chip a XBOX for money.... thinks itīs stupid

Look at this line above and think....

Well I think most people own collections of game images - As I bought several hundered C64 games back in the day, why shouldn't I have them on my PC now?
The difference is between selling game images and giving them away for the cost of a CD etc - Oh and its not illegal to chip an Xbox. I wasnt charged for the games/emulators, merely the cost of chipping and postage. _________________ www.lemon64.com - For all C64 fans!

Thanks for the help.
I managed to get hold of winuaex so now all I need is an xbox!
Is it possible to use CDR/CDRW rather than DVD because I dont have a DVD writer? What about installing to hard disk?
I know that the xbox gameports are USB ports which require an adaptor to plug in mice keyboards etc , is winuaex able to use these?
As for the legality of roms & adf's - I own an a1200 and an a500 so my rom images are legal. I'm sure that most people using this site are well aware that most adf images will be breaking copyright law but they also knew this 10-15 years ago when most people had more cracked &copied games than they had origionals. |

@Robbie_22: It is NOT illegal to chip an XBOX!
Nor is it illegal to Chip a PS2 (It is however illegal to sell PS2 Modchips (but not XBox))!
If you scan the net you'll find plenty of companies selling XBox xhips and willing to chip for a fee!
I have personally chipped OVER 20 XBox's myself and every single one of them has worked perfectly!
As for copying ADF's and Kickstarts being illegal.. yes it is!!
But what is more Illegal and Immoral? Selling compilation CD's (which you a). Didn't compile (so someone elses work) or b). YOu didn't program the games (which is worse still)! or giving it away for free as abandonware?
Sydney: The XBox can read CDRW discs but not CDR. Certain DVD Drives (XBox ones) don't like certain brands of CDRW or DVDR/RW but generally they are ok |

Not here in Finland, but there has been talk about them becoming illegal for 18 months or so. Hasn't happened yet

Really? On PS/PS2 it's the other way around. |

Kickstart roms for the Amiga is basicly illegal due to legal rights. And ADF files also... The images or files is not illegal in itself, itīs whatīs in them who seem to be illegal.
But ofcourse people say that they have plenty of those games at their house (Even if they donīt own a single one), so why shouldnīt they play it again on their PC or console... like Xbox for example?
I think itīs better that someone actually plays Amiga games, because the publishers donīt exist anymore (Many of them). Better to play them rather than avoid them due to illegal rights...
But I think that Xbox is a very good console with many possibilities. You can store emulators for all platforms on the Xbox harddisk and play all those great games on one place. (You must also find the gamefiles and place them in the emulator. This is maybe where the "illegal" comes in.) I think thatīs great myself! But due to legal rights, ofcourse thatīs illegal because there are companies who have maked money on the games and platforms and still does maybe...
The Xbox is a 733 Mhz powerful machine and if we talk about Amiga emulation here thatīs what itīs going to take to emulate it. Heard before that you need at least a 700 Mhz PC computer to be able to play Amiga games with emulation. The Amiga emulator on Xbox (Winuaex) seem to be very handy with nice menus and so on. All emulators on Xbox is very good and works nearly 100%. They are improved all the time by the makers so thanks to them we can play the old games without bugs...
Comment to BippyM:
I donīt "SELL" amigagames or compilation CDīs, Iīm neither a professional salesman. Iīm working on different projects for the Amiga CD32 console but I not sell anything... I want to make a Sensible world of soccer compilation on the CD32 but I havenīt figured out how yet. Working on it.. As far as I know you are not allowed to sell any compilation CD. I like the CD "200 games compilation for Amiga CD32" because itīs very handy and I only have it to play Amiga games myself (Canīt play Amiga emulation on my Sega Dreamcast. They made an attempt, but itīs buggy). I donīt see this as illegal, because itīs better to play the games rather than not. And I had my own Amiga during late the 1980īso I think Iīm allowed to have the games Nobody is actually loosing on it.
I donīt have a Xbox myself but if anyone want to read more about Amiga emulation (Winuaex) on Xbox, see screenshots and so, go to these links below:
http://xport.xbox-scene.com/
http://www.xbox-scene.com/
If anyone have some tips about how I can play my favourite Amigagame, Sensible World Of Soccer 96/97 on a console with emulation or by making a CD32 compilation Iīm all ears.....

I think you may be mistaken as cd-rw's are more likely to have compatibility probs than cdr's- although some 74min ones can be tricky on thomsons.
I have found cd-r's to be fine in all all the xbox's versions I have come across tho including thomson's. _________________ ..._____ . ___ . ___

I looked at the screenshots, but think they are inferior to the real thing. I like the real thing better, but with a lack of the machine an emulation will do. _________________ International Karate is being remade on the PS2 |

Not really. I own six different Amigas (2*A500/A500+/A600/A1200/A4000) with six different ROMs, so I can use them any way I want for personal use. |
