Question!
What are the best written plot lines / story-lines on the Amiga (or any game for that matter)??
To help you consider, here's a list of games with great story-lines from the last 10 years:
http://listverse.com/2011/05/09/10-best-written-video-games/
Apart from the games listed in the link above, my top story-lines in games would include:
(in chronological order!)
1. Red Dead Redemption (360)
2. Yakuza 3 (ps3)
3. Crysis (pc)
4. Cold Winter (ps2)
5. GTA San Andreas (ps2)
6. Beyond Good And Evil (ps2, gamecube)
7. The Longest Journey (pc)
8. Grim Fandango (pc)
9. Medievil 2 (ps1)
10. Parasite Eve II (ps1)
11. Metal Gear Solid (ps1)
12. Final Fantasy 7 (ps1)
13. Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis (amiga)
14. The Secret of Monkey Island 2 (amiga)
15. Another World / Flashback (!)
16. It Came From The Desert (amiga)
17. The Last Ninja 2 (c64)

I like the idea that they could possibly cross over the Half Life 2 and Portal storylines at some point, they've already referenced Aperture in Half Life 2. Really want Episode 3 to come out.
I would put Zelda down but as amazing as some the games are they lack any coherent storyline of history.
The Monkey Island series has a nice continuous feel to the story and often references its past, definitely top of the list for great storylines. _________________ Check out my blog RGO below, latest post now up!

I wouldnt agree with Red Dead Redemption, a cliche of a game. _________________ Never trust a man with a mustache...

True, it's just a classic old western in that Genre. Yet, I feel it works much better than the Ps2 games 'Gun' and 'Red Dead Revolver', and even the likes of 'Kane' and (hehe) 'Custers Revenge'. I wouldn't say it's the best story ever told (not even close - see the link for more of those), but the story actually makes the game worth playing. Without it, this game would be nowhere near as good |

Most recently on the DS, Hotel Dusk and 9 Hours 9 Persons 9 Doors
Realms of the Hauntingon the PC also had a great storyline, as did Under a Killing Moon, The Pandora Directive and Overseer _________________ Fave Amiga Games:

2. Rocket Ranger
3. Goal

I don't see how Oblivion got in that list, I wouldn't say it had a particularly good story, its the same old RPG story seen many times before.
Fahrenheit though is awesome, I would place it number 1
Personally I would add Knights of the old republic 2 into that list somewhere. |

Dreamweb is the first what came into my mind. The pc-cd version is the best because of voice acting. You can start the story here:

If you have missed it for some strange reason.

I agree.Dreamweb's scenario is very interesting if a bit depressing.Another game from mid-90's worth a mention for its bizarre and disturbing storyline is I have no mouth and I must scream. _________________ [Insert witty quote here.] |

Shenmue 1 & 2 (Dreamcast).
A bit Luke Skywalker meets Darth Vader as in Star Wars in many ways even tho the story has never been finished. One of the all time great's and I'm sure some day we will hear Lan Di say to Ryo Hazuki,
'I... am your father'.

I like the story behind Microprose Grand Prix. It's about these brave young men who race these super charged, hi-tec cars round a set piece of road. Whoever's in front after a set number of circuits (or "laps") gets to stand on a box and they win a bottle of champagne and get a necklace made out of foliage. It's all very emotional. Makes me cry every time.... |

Watching Ayrton Senna live on TV go into the wall did the same. _________________ A1200T, Apollo 1260, 32MB RAM, 3.1 ROMS, 4GB HD, Z4 Board, Picasso II, IOBlix (Serial/Parallel), Squirrel SCSI, 2X CD, IDE 100MB Zip Drive, OS - DOpus Magellan II. Plus an A500+ Yum. |

Gray Matter on the 360 - well it is a Jane Jenson game so you would expect a decent storyline _________________ Fave Amiga Games:

I must say Jane Jensen did an amazing job on the Gabriel Knight trilogy (PC and Mac I played). Totally gripping storylines. To date, the Gabriel Knight saga has been my favourite point-and-click adventure experience. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gabriel_Knight
All Blizzard games' storylines are pretty incredible too: eg. Starcraft + Broodwar anyone ? And, I haven't even played SC 2 yet. |
