I can't seem to find any hard info about the capabilities of bridgeboards and ISA cards. Perhaps someone knows: I have a A2088XT and it's pretty much useless, except that I understand it should allow the use of 8bit ISA cards in a given Amiga(2000 or 3000). I have a few 8bit ISA serial cards. I understand drivers would be necessary to run the card, but I was wondering if the reports of dramatic performance decrease compared to native hardware were true. I've read of someone using a 10-base NIC with a bridgeboard and having it work, but at about 1/10th the speed.
Is there any known reason why a serial card would not work, aside from drivers, with this or any bridgeboard? More importantly, would it even be any faster than the built-in port on a 2000 or 3000 (19200bps)? |

Never fails.... I always find more info after I ask the question, despite how hard I look before....
The reason I was asking about this mess was to increase speed over the default port. Looking into the A3000's port, I read some people achieved faster than 19200 by dropping the resolution, color depth, and not using any zorro2 RAM.
Guess what I never tried... |
