I've been playing Bombjack again - and it's 'not bad', but not as good as it could have been.
Stuck it on my site at Amiga Bombjack - but for the ZX Spectrum version plays better.
I did like the arcade original - the Amiga was perfect to convert this game and it reeks of being an ST quick and dirty port over.
Thoughts anyone? _________________ Love Amiga Games?

I prefer C64 version, at least for its music. _________________

The music was the only saving grace of the C64 version, everything else was terrible. And it should be noted that the in-game tune wasn't original. _________________ [Insert witty quote here.] |

Both Commodore versions suck when compared to the arcade original - just play it on MAME.
I always thought Bombjack was a bit naff, but over the last few years I have really gotten into it - unlocking the bonus coins, etc for maximum points, which is dependent on what path you take in collecting the bombs. _________________ Fave Amiga Games:

IMHO, the Amstrad CPC version is one of the best home computer conversions. It is like the arcade version to play, similar to the Spectrum version but with more colourful graphics.
Another good home computer conversion is on the Japanese NEC PC-88. This is very close to the arcade original and was released in 1985, before all the other home computer conversions.
As other people have alluded, the Amiga and the Atari ST versions are utter pants. |

Wow. I think that was the first game I ever played when I got a ZX.
Thanks for the memories! |

To me this game played like a dead hamster glued to the floor, however on the C64 it was always worth loading up for the fantastic music _________________ Please refer all site and database related matters directly to me - incl. missing games, links, screenshots and suggestions. |

Yep the Speccy version was a brilliant conversion and oozed playability. The Amiga version should have been even better - but it wasn't. _________________ Love Amiga Games?

| I like the Amiga version, I prefer the way it plays vs. the coin-op. The graphics are nearly the same, just a few less colours. |

| The Amiga version is yet another lazy Atari ST port. It's a shame that the Amiga version doesn't take advantage of the hardware, as it could easily have been arcade perfect. I had it on a disk along with Giganoid and Whirligig and the Amiga version is still a fun game, despite being technically a bit naff. |
