Hi folks,
I'm a c64 enthusiast and former Risc OS obsessive. Started playing with WINUAE and WINUAEX and got the bug...
Now I have an Amiga 1200 on the way
What shall I do with it first? |

You can do what most people do and stash it in the cupboard and continue to claim to be an amiga user! (or is that just me?) _________________

Ha! It would be a dishonest claim as I believe that I have never physically touched an Amiga before...
My computers are all set up on my desk working (with the exception of one C64 as I don't have space for both). Currently the desk displays
Acorn StrongARM RiscPC 600
ZX Spectrum +3
Commodore 64
Commodore 128
and naturally my boring Windows box. |

Take a peak at Dungeon Master.
If you like your be hooked forever. Not cheap on ebay, but if it's your thing then it's worth the asking price as you can chew £40 on something for XBOX 360 or PS3 and feel you wasted your money.
A game all amiga gamers should have in their collection.
Look out for Dungeon Master and Chaos Strikes Back box set from Psygnosis which contains the final versions, updated for/and runs like a dream on an A1200.

I really loved that game, and gave it a run recently--I went
looking for a re-make, but I think that game has been given
up on, development-wize. _________________ Who is John Galt?

As close as you can get to Dungeon Master clone wise is Crystal Dragon on the Amiga. Released a number of years later, 1994 in fact... It builds on that Dungeon crawling theme adding new idea along the way that make it one evil game to play. Recommend to those that can't get enough of Dungeon Crawling games and want an extra challenge after Dungeon Master. _________________ A1200T, Apollo 1260, 32MB RAM, 3.1 ROMS, 4GB HD, Z4 Board, Picasso II, IOBlix (Serial/Parallel), Squirrel SCSI, 2X CD, IDE 100MB Zip Drive, OS - DOpus Magellan II. I didn't know about Crystal Dragon; just started to check
it out--having to read a little through the manual. Interesting--
another one similar to Dungeon Master _________________ Who is John Galt?

A first time Amiga user in 2011. That is awesome and says everything about the best era that computing/gaming will ever have.
Has your 1200 arrived yet? Alot of fun you are about to have
So much fun in fact I put together 10 games you have to play!
1. Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge
2. Cannon Fodder
3. Turrican II
4. Chaos Engine
5. Secret Of Monkey Island
6. Sensible Soccer
7. Speedball 2
8. Flashback
9. The Settlers
10. Ruff 'n' Tumble
After that there are 100s and 100s of classic Amiga games...

Well, the Amiga came, but its workbench disks were well and truly dead!
So I fitted a Compact Flash card and after arguing with WINUAE for several hours, got it set up with a working system. The problem was the latest WINUAE is properly borked
I'm more interested in the Demoscene than games and already I find that I probably need to get some fast ram. Which costs more than the damned machine |

http://aminet.net/ is a good start when it comes to the Demoscene.
These 2 classics will run on a stock machine.

*Jesus on E's. Two drives recommended because the demo loads from both disks all the time, 27minutes long!!* _________________ A1200T, Apollo 1260, 32MB RAM, 3.1 ROMS, 4GB HD, Z4 Board, Picasso II, IOBlix (Serial/Parallel), Squirrel SCSI, 2X CD, IDE 100MB Zip Drive, OS - DOpus Magellan II.
