I am wondering, is it somehow possible to boot Street Rod with WHDLoad? I found out an unofficial WHDLoad-package that should work. But first it gave me an error message about wrong place of kickstart file. I solved this by using older version of WHDLoad. But then I got second error about corrupted image files! Is there any possibilty to play this with WHDLoad with A1200 or must I really play this with an emulator?

There's no official WHDLoad install because no one has been able to donate an original copy of the game.

There are people at English Amiga Board who have managed to play the unofficial WHDLoad version of Street Rod. Their fileserver was also the place where I found my package. It would be really nice to have an official version, but meanwhile I would be more than happy if I could play my favourite game with this work-around.

Ok, I found out now that you can boot Street Rod I with A1200 without WHDLoad install. You only need to have floppy version and boot that in WB with OCS turned on. It works perfectly!

If you're running the generic install from CLI you must use CUSTOM1=2 tool type.
example:
WHDLOAD SLAVE=Streetrod.slave CUSTOM1=2 PRELOAD
CUSTOM1=2 tells the slave that the game is on 2 disks, if not the game will quit with an error.
An easier approach is that you rename WHDLOAD (16.8 ) to WHD168 and copy it to C where WHDLOAD resides.
Then edit default tool in Street Rod icon (right click / info) to WHD168 instead of WHDLOAD. _________________ RIP mom (1953-2008) |
