Me too. I reckon I could get 53k on a clean run but I can't imagine how they get the 59/60k scores. Tried going several routes to compare the stats at the end of each mission. I guess it's impossible to get 100% on any level, but sometimes the stats screen gives away the fact that there was a key somewhere I didn't pick up, or some node I couldn't reach.

I think that apart from level 1 it is impossible to have 100%. You need to remember that bonus stuff like coins, power-ups do not give you points. But keys do.

On The Maze level (2-1) it's possible to clean up the entire level, while on the next level - 'The Traps' (2-2) I can only go left or right (and then central) but not all three routes (I don't think).

You need to practice to know which route is best for you. But even if you can't go both you can still earn some points like going both because the routes are overlapping in some places.

Sometimes it helps to choose the A exit over the B exit if you get to play more of the next level.

Rule 1: always choose the exit with the latter letter. If you have a choice A or B, choose B.

Rule 2: try not using specials lying on the ground to kill monsters

Rule 3: take as many keys as you can. Sometimes taking one uncovers the second one. Sometimes go back to see what happened. Always take the keys that are farther from you. World 3 is full of such surprises. Some keys seem to be unreachable but it is technically possible to collect them all.

Score: 50,835

Only a microscopic improvement even after 1.5 hours hard work. Tried the Thug with the Navvie and was surprised to get all the way to the last level; even without the crutch of the first-aid kit.

Getting rather bored with no improvements. I might lay off for a while.

I think it is technically possible in 2-4, 3-4, 4-3 and 4-4 also, but it's just a wild assumption.

Chaos holds many mysteries, probably not only for us, but also for its creators.

I tried to get a postable score on the train this morning, only for my laptop to crash. I was up to 24k (which would have resulted in a record score for me). The event occurred just as I was on the approach to Paddington so I blame the London scum.

Over at EAB Harry has reported that...

"Shooting the monster generators gives less points than waiting for the monsters to emerge and shooting them until the generator vanishes."

Just thought I'd throw that into the mix in case anyone was unaware.

I knew about this, score milking is allowed but sometimes it's hard to not go for the generators when enemies are crawling all over the place. I'm particularly thinking about the hand creatures on 4-1 and all those trap doors. I notice on level 1-2 it is possible to get a lot of lizzard men before you collect the gold key to get to the health bonus area.

Of course, in my case my artificially 'intelligent' companion often kindly offers to take out the monster generators on my behalf...

Yeah, sometimes it's too risky to call it milking. In 2-4 I destroy kangaroo generators on higher platforms with bombs/molotovs whenever they are within my range. But next time I think I'll try to "milk" the whole content Wink

When I was young we didn't call it "leaching" or "milking". We called it "creaming". But we were teenage boys and had other things on our minds...

Anyways, Since the monster generation isn't endless it's totally in the rules to cream points off the generators.

Hehe! That comment made my day Very Happy

It's funny because I work in a large warehouse (although not on the main floor anymore) and workers are on incentive, so the easy fast work that can earn you a good percentage is called 'Cream' as well Very Happy

If you are doing well with these tasks, you are creaming it in... adds a whole new meaning to that now lol! Laughing

My wife came to me last night and said "My mate has a cheap condo in Italy, he'll offer us a week there for £400."
My response: " I ain't exactly creaming my pants over his offer, now if he said £200...well I'd let him take me up the axse."
My wife: "Now we've got a kid, you can't say stuff like that anymore."

Funny how you guys discuss the possible score leeching while killing the most enemies is the key for victory in this competition.

Killing the most enemies, thus leading to the highest possible score is the key to victory in the majority of our competitions. But score leeching is against the rules. There is no contradiction there. Although I do kinda understand your point emte.

as we said generators do get depleted so it's just a mather of skill how much you are able to get from it.

@Michael, nice to see you back in compo, allthough with small but persistent steps ^^
