Hi,

there is a still not so well-known OS that is Opensource, supports different hardware and is a reimplementation of Amiga (3.1.). It supports X86, ARM, 68k and PowerPC, Linux and android hosted and many others. For more informations look at these links:

For the common gameplayer here it may interest in two ways.

- It's a legal option to use the AROS kickstart ROM in winuae (and a lot of games run straight on)...

- It's also a viable Kickstart option for NATAMI.

But IMHO it's the only viable option for the future of AmigaOS. Supporting different architectures and hardware options, as well as being open-source, is its main strong points.

I use Icaros occasionally aand have been following AROS for a long time.

When they eventually finalise the ABI it will be alot easier to promote AROS then i believe.

Small update

I have created a distribution that is based on Aros 68k and includes reimplemented roms and is highly compatible to the classic amiga-platform. For additional support (games) you can use the preinstalled WHDLoad after copying the original roms (f.e. from amigaforever)
Aros also supports X86, ARM and PPC with different distributions that are free of charge including a combination of Linux and Aros,

The links:
http://www.natami-news.de/html/support.html

And direct:
http://www.natami-news.de/html/aros_vision.html
http://www.natami-news.de/html/distribution_Download.html

it works on most versions of UAE (roms from "boot" dir must be used)

The main page of Aros is aros-exec.org

This is a very interesting project. That x86 is supported is real plus.
It still has some problems, but is getting better.
Right now I use Amikit as my main emulator, but I also have Icaros on another pc to keep up with the advances.

Today I have uploaded 1.5.4. of my distribution "Aros Vision"

It can be downloaded here:
http://www.natami-news.de/html/distribution_download.html

more informations:
http://www.natami-news.de/html/aros_vision.html

One big improvement is full integration of WHDLoad (newest version) with preinstalled "Aros Rom Replacements". That means hundreds of 68k games work out-of-the-box without needing original roms.

A updated list (in progress) is here:
http://www.natami-news.de/html/compatibility.html
(with original roms from Amigaforever almost all games work)

As a kind of demonstration I was allowed to install "Lure of the Temptress" (WHDLoad-Version).

Additional changes/additions:
Amistart (Amikit-Version, thanks to Jan, Ken and Darius)
AGA (Scene) Demos for demonstration
free printer-driver
Annotate
Inga
AmiArcadia
ScummVM AGA
AmiMastergear
smaller additions like new includes for Amiblitz
Sqrxz (HD-Version)
Brutal Homicide (with permission)
