Frontier: Elite II
In this review we experience TWO YEARS of game time condenced into just 80mins! Topics include: how to fly your ship, using the hyperdrive, effective goods trading, drug trafficing, bugs!, long distance exploration, joining the army, becoming a space taxi, combat and dogfighting, and much more. Most of the heavy drudgery of trading has been cut - to leave us with the interesting parts, the quirks, the puzzles and the complexities of this classic space simulator. Expect the usual graphics comparisons and review banter along the way. As you may imagine by now, this review took 4 weeks (with six major revisions) to produce and edit, and a whole day just to upload it - so Thanks very much for watching.
oh, and if you want to carry on from where I left off here's my final Save Game File. This file must be loaded from within the Amiga version of Frontier: Elite II.

Fave Amiga game of all time: Hunter, The Settlers
Thanks guys. Some of the most frantic battles were deleted if I died and had to reload from a previous save. I remember coming back from the Wolf system towards an unknown planet (because I didn't have enough fuel to make it home); enduring an asteroid field and a massive firestorm from two enemies together; where it was shot for shot on the missiles. Unfortunately the star-dreamer crashed me into my destination planet and I had to reload and pretend that never happened. After I reloaded I didn't see an enemy in the wolf system.
Some scenes were filmed and mysteriously vanished. Returning from Jupiter I captured the fuel dump bug(**). This bug happens when you fire while in star dreamer mode, and all the fuel in your internal fuel tank disappears!(*) As you can see in the video, I returned from Jupiter without doing that.
* The explanation is that the lasers power comes from the hydrogen being used up in the interplanetary drive. In star dream mode this gets multiplied by many hours /days, emptying the tank.
** Bugs, List of known bugs shown in the video:
. The Inadequate Automatic Docking Computer bug. - use manual mode.
. The Unwinnable Save bug -forcing you to reload it from earlier.
. The Ross 154 'Starport Busy' bug - come back in a week!
. The 'docking computer goes straight through the planet' bug.
. The Stupid Police bug - where they blow themselves up.
. The Crashing On Landing bug.
. The Freezing BBS bug - either the first entry refuses to scroll up or its all garbled.
. The 'getting forward and rear view mixed up and almost crashing out' bug.
. The 'docking computer can't dock and flys around in circles' bug.
. The Lost Target Bug - (pause) click on your target again to reacquire.
. The Phantom Ship Under Attack Warning bug.
. The Wormhole bug - presented in the video as a 'feature of the game'.
. The Flickering Landscape bug.
Hope to be able to produce a few smaller films since that 4 week epic last week. Phew. Having a real boring sunday here after I recorded this on saturday. Hope it will brighten up your day.
Apidya
In this review we'll look at the legend side-scroller that is Apidya. We'll get to see all five levels of this game, from the tranqil meadows of the first level to the five-bosses-in-a-row! at the end. To say this game is hard (with or without autofire) is like saying it's hard to eat candy with false teeth!, it's hard to open a clam with a safety pin - I mean it's HARD! maaan!.
Alien Bash 2
As a double bonus this week we take a look at a very well done PD game known as Alien Bash 2, by Glen Cumming. We'll get to see the first six (out of the eight) levels in this game, and look at a few tips and tricks and ways to get by the enemies. Yes this is a Chaos Engine clone but I find it a very difficult and yet a very absorbing one. Hope you enjoy. Cheers.

Watched the Frontier Vid. Was hilarious at the bit where the planets port was full.
Tried to fly in orbit... autopilot smashed into the planet.
Tried to fly around the system... shot down by pirates.
Tried to make a soft landing.. crashed.
Opened fire on ships... police blow you up.
Open fire again... other ship shoots you down.
Try again closer... wasted.
And again... Kaboom.
Load old save.

Yes it was a neat bug to try to get around, but try as I might I just couldn't manage it. I knew that sequence would be a highlight of the vid when it happened, so I was glad it happened while I was recording. I like to give the impression of a real game guide - bugs and all - so if that's what happens in the game then it was great to be able to show it. There were a few more bugs I discovered but they didn't make the cut.
The bugs are always interesting in games but this game really took the biscuit - ..so to speak.
Drip (Amiga PD)
Drip is a Public Domain title from 1989 and features 15 challenging levels of pipe-rusting mayhem. We take a look at the first 7 levels/floors of this game, getting to know the game machanics, the bonuses and the many ways in which we can die. After level 6 the game becomes impossible - and you'll certainly see me dropping 10 lifes in quick succession trying to get further in the game. Thanks again for watching.

Buggy Boy
Presenting the complete game from beginning to end, we take a look at this classic arcade driving game from the late 1980's. I'll show you how to accumulate a top score, how best to negotiate the levels, and I reveal the secret locations of all the hidden footballs found within the game. The screen has been slightly enlarged. Some savestates were used in this production.
Deluxe Galaga AGA (Amiga PD) + 7 PD Invaders Clones
To round off my occasional series on Amiga PD games, I'll take a look at some of the better Space Invaders clones out there. We start with a showcase of seven classic Invaders clones, including: Mr Wobbly Legs, Attack of the Green Smelly Aliens, POD, and Blast 'Em, as well as Better Dead Than Alien; a commerical game originally designed as PD; and then the 25min review of Deluxe Galaga AGA itself. We get to see the first 25 levels of Deluxe Galaga, and you'll also find the usual playtips, hints, review scores and screen comparisons along the way. So lets blast off and save the planet one more time!
