Yes you read it right there seems to be console / PC version in development of Syndicate. Nothing bad so far...but here it comes...it's an FPS...

http://www.ea.com/syndicate

The following is my view and my view only and it will stay that way even when the holy one himself would descent on Lemon amiga and would try to comfort me....

How in your right mind can one "transform" a true classic in every way to a FIRST PERSON SHOOTER. It's almost like saying...

"Hey civilization was a classic on the amiga...let's make a FPS of it and ca$h out on it"

I think the developer is Starbreeze (Riddick) and they have the know-how when it comes to games... but even then some things should be left alone or approached correctly.

Aaargh...I had to get this off my chest.

And if you still think it will turn out right....watch this...

Hmmm. I'm gonna reserve judgement until I play it. Granted the youtube coop play looks poor in a kinda 2006 way BUT the concept of Syndicate as a FPS is not exactly distasteful. Besides, I always kinda like it when games get remade for the big consoles after decades of neglect, it often brings the younger generation back to see Amiga stuff from the past.

It could be fun, but looks pretty generic. Don't see much to make it especially a syndicate game. The big question is will there be pedestrians and how about the persuadatron?

Sorry I forgot to mention that it is indeed too generic.
There to many video's where you see a levels which feel "empty".

The whole thing just doesn't have any soul / character.

It's just full on run 'n gun.

Come on man, just look at this sh*t:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IYCe5c2Znak&feature=related
It's only full on run and shoot and just kill.

The ORIGINAL syndicate build's up to everything, was highly depending on how you moved your team into position. It actually demanded some form of tactics.

It would have been something else if they decided to make every level "smaller", levels with full details, bustling with people where you could enter EVERY building .... and destroy walls... combined in a solid isometric view point assisted with FPS moments where you switch to FP-mode to go ballistic on your foe's....

this could be very demanding in development but keep it in "contained" levels and take the freaking risk will ya in stead of dumping that diarrhea out which one calls "Syndicate"

And I know you have to wait and experience it and then judge.
But in my heart I just know this one will be forgotten very easily.
(if not worse)

I based my view on trailers, gameplay movies, screenshots and my experience with original amiga version syndicate.

I agree that I to am somewhat disappointed in this. I understand that FPS are all the fad now, and I enjoy a bit of FPS action. Also, if they do a spin off from a different game universe, then that can be cool as well.

But can anyone tell me the relation between this game and Syndicate?

The graphical style and setting is completely different, it has some team based game play, but not really in the same way... where Syndicate gave you the city to explore, this is an on rails shooter... and so on.

For me, it almost feels like the developer had a game that was just OK, but with all the Modern Warfare hype EA know it will not fare so well unless it has an edge... so they look through what they have the rights to, see Syndicate and some similarities, know that people want a Syndicate game and they have no plans... so bang! Slap the name on, takes a low selling game to turn a nice profit with some good sales cashing in on the name.

For me, thats how it feels. Heck, the game might be alright, but I fail to see the real relation between Syndicate and this game. I have not played the new Dues Ex, but that looks more Syndicate in its style and environment than this... slap Syndicate name on that game and I would believe it more!

Ok.. thats my rant done fore. I am ok now HAHA! Smile

Well, it's obvious that the original idea will be changed. Prince of Persia, Fallout 3 - are totally different games.

Take a look at Dune 2000, same idea with better graphics and it failed so bad.

If they release Syndicate with the same idea from orginal version, they will fail certainly.
