Hi,
Does anyone have a list of games that require more that 1MB RAM to run on a stock A600?
e.g. Primal Rage.

...or a list of games that play slightly differently when you use more that 1MB RAM on a stock A600.
e.g. MicroProse Grand Prix (extra intro?).

I don't have any list, but I am pretty sure that list would be very short...

The A600 is my Amiga of preference because of its size and I've yet to come across any incompatibility problems other than older games that require the 1.3 Rom (easily solved by Relokick).

I have a couple of different versions of Microprose GP, though. One is the 4 disk standard retail version that has intro music as the game loads up and the other has 3 disks and was sold as part of the Wild, Weird and Wicked Pack and doesn't have any intro music.

How about the complete reverse...

Last Ninja 3 was meant to make use of extra memory, but on my A500+ with 2meg chip it tells me I need to upgrade. Laughing
It fails to notice the extra ram so it's back to the 3 or so screens at a time and I switch it off because all the loading required to play just the one level sucks... sad.

I can't think of any... it was mostly AGA that made use of more than 1meg and beyond. Games that would not run on early machines...

1meg was plenty for the classics running from floppy. Really you'd only need more memory for applications such as music trackers, sampling software ect or if you had a harddrive. If your eating to much ram after booting up with a harddirve of sorts then you might not beable to boot some installed game or apps...

Jeez, there's a game. I got all excited about this as I was a big Captive fan, but as soon as I started playing a demo of it the colour scheme totally did my head in.

And as Dirk points out, I think it required a minimum of 1.5meg.

Well, link was for the Amiga Power review. At the end of the review informs that your machine shoud have at least 1.3mb memory free in order to play... Check it in Amiga Rack.

Luckily I came across this before buying a604. No point to buying if I use my a600 only to play games, is it?

Wing Commander adds extra animations if you have more than 1 MB - people show up on the communication screen, the pilot moves his arm on the control stick and there is also more detailed explosions.

I was going to mention Primal Rage (requires 2MB of chip ram) but you mentioned that one in your opening post. I don't know of any others, sorry. Cool

I know The Settlers makes use of more than 1 mb for generating bigger maps to play on
