I recently bought an A1200 with a Blizzard 1230 MKIII accelerator, and 2GB compact flash card. It has 3.0 roms with Scalos installed. While it boots up just fine in the Amiga, WinUAE will either just sit there, or give the above error. I thought it might be my card reader, so I used another that was very similar to one a friend of mine knew that worked, but it gave the same result. Are there any particular settings I should be using in WinUAE? Is there anything I'm missing? I'm very surprised that there aren't any Windows programs that can even peer into an Amiga file system, so I think I'm stuck with the emulator... but unfortunately it won't boot from the card :/
Suggestions would be great.
Edit - Nobody? Hmm. Maybe the error I get when I try to boot up would be useful -
EXECUTE: Can't open work file ":T/Command-0-T01"
disk not validated
execute failed returncode 10
All I want to do is to boot to the Workbench that is installed on the compact flash card so I can install software without having to purchase a transfer kit. |

Try leaving the CF card in WinUAE running for 30 seconds, with the validation error on screen, then either wait for another error requester to appear or soft reset the emulator. If that doesn't work then you may need to format the card on a PC using Fat16 and then put all the files back on to it on the real amiga.
Sorry I can't help. See also here:

Look at your startup-sequence and user-startup and find out why WB is trying to open T/Command-0-T01 aqnd what it is, diagnose that (on your real amiga if needed) as this could be the cause. |

Thanks for replying, both of you. I'm afraid I'm very much a newbie when it comes to the Amiga, so you'll have to be a little clearer. lifeschool, if you mean leave it in when it comes up with the validation error, I know it's supposed to fix itself, but it doesn't. If you mean leave it when it gives the error I posted above, I'll try but I'm pretty sure that's just a dos error screen and nothing will happen. But, like I said, I'll give it a go.
Acid, I have absolutely no idea how to do that. Just to make things clear, it boots up perfectly fine on the Amiga itself, it's in WinUAE that it fails and brings up the error. So maybe someone who knows the ins and outs of the emulator can tell me why, "WB is trying to open T/Command-0-T01 and what it is" on the emulator, not Workbench on the Amiga itself.
I have no software on the A1200 other than Scalos and some program called MUI - and until I get a transfer kit (availability in question over at Amigakit, they have it listed as TBA - to be announced... right?) what is on the compact flash card, is all that I have to work with. So I can't diagnose anything, not unless there are some tools I should be using that come with Workbench by default. |

Okay, so if I press retry, nothing happens, the error goes away and I end up looking at a blank, grey Workbench screen. If I press cancel, it gives the error I posted above - but here's the kicker. If i type DIR, I get the directory of the compact flash card! Here is what I'm currently seeing -
So, can anyone help me? Tell me what settings I need to select, or what I should tell WinUAE not to do...? |

have you tried loading the workbench with the command "loadwb"
and then either use "endcli" or make the cli window smaller so you can see the workbench
to me it looks like there is something trying to load in your s/startup-sequence that either has problems with running under emu.. or maybe winuae is naming the drive differently than the a1200
also could take a closer look in the t/ dir since that seems to contain the file which is giving a problem |

I'm having issues with it booting at all now. Ever since I booted up the pc today, it's not been behaving well. Sometimes it will access the compact flash card when I start the emulation and it will just sit there, most of the time when it starts the access and power lights on the card reader will blink red, it will stop trying to access it and they'll return to green again... I can't get it to work at all. I think the compact flash card itself is wonky.
However, I did manage to actually get to workbench earlier, don't ask me how because none of the settings were any different. I tried installing whdload but it just came up on the desktop as a df0:? or something like that, said something about an icon and refused to work. I started up again, got the same error, and got the following when I access the T directory -
When I typed wbload, I got this -
But right now, it won't do anything at all, I can't get as far as I did. I'm really losing the will to do anything with the Amiga anymore... and I only bought it this month! |

| Get back to that screen where it shows you the contents of the disk and type in "t" and press enter to change to that directory. The type in "edit Command-0-T01" and assuming it a text/script file it should display it, if it says edit is an unknown command then type in "c:edit Command-0-T01" instead, show us a screen of that. |

Thanks for the post, Acid. After entering Command-0-T01, it says -
Editor
:
The cursor is just after the colon.
On another note, I think Scalos is failing to load, and so it loads basic Workbench instead. I may be very wrong about that. |
