Hello,
I need some info regarding the RGB output on a Amiga 600 .
The unit turns on . I hooked it up my my Amiga monitor (1080 ?) and I see a green screen that is scrolling vertically.
Do I need to change the Monitor switch (front , back ) set to analog or digital?
Would a SCART cable let me use a LCD monitor intead?
Thanks ,Peter |

I would test it on a tv using a standard av cable to make sure there is nothing wrong with the A600 first.
The only thing stopping you using an LCD monitor is if the monitor supports a low enough frequency and most do not, that's where scan doublers such as the indivision come in. I think it's something like 31.5khz the Amiga needs and most modern monitors won't go below something like 60khz. |

I've only ever used 1084's and a 1084ST. However there should be a switch on the front for RGB. If it's an early monitor there could also be a vertical hold or vertical sync on the front to stop the picture rolling.
Green is not right tho... As Acid says, try another screen first so you know it's working be it RF or Composite Video. _________________ A1200T, Apollo 1260, 32MB RAM, 3.1 ROMS, 4GB HD, Z4 Board, Picasso II, IOBlix (Serial/Parallel), Squirrel SCSI, 2X CD, IDE 100MB Zip Drive, OS - DOpus Magellan II. Great tips!
I connected up to a Commodore 1702 monitor using COMP port , and see a similiar problem - a blank screen with a slow vertical scroll.
How hard will it be to fix this ? Or should I look for a new machine?
Thanks,Peter |

Yeah if your having no joy and you can even plug it in to any TV you have using composite for one last test then try and get another machine, stated as working. Pictures of it running even better.
Anything that's along the lines of, been in storage for years and no cables to test picture is normally a faulty machine and the seller knows it. Just a slippery way of getting a bit more money for a faulty machine and your playing straight in to their hands hoping it might work... No come backs from how it's worded for the seller either. _________________ A1200T, Apollo 1260, 32MB RAM, 3.1 ROMS, 4GB HD, Z4 Board, Picasso II, IOBlix (Serial/Parallel), Squirrel SCSI, 2X CD, IDE 100MB Zip Drive, OS - DOpus Magellan II. Good news - I firmly seated the power cord ,and now I have composite video!
But It is black and white - is that related to being in Pal or is the monitor to blame?
The screen says "2.0 roms (37.300) - I'll upgrade to 3.x .
Thanks, Peter |

| Some Amiga models will only output B&W to the composite output, So you might be fine. Hope so. |

| NTSC signals on old PAL screens used to display in B&W too if the screen/tv wasn't up to it. Maybe it's the same the other way around but I couldn't be sure. |

Yes is sounds like you have a PAL A600 so composite will be B&W. If you get a scan double flicker fixer and connect it to a HD tv it should be in color. That's what I am doing with a PAL A500+. . Was displaying B&W so I use an external scan doubler VGA converter to my HDtv. |
