Amiga 2000 Question.

I am now the proud owner of an Amiga 2000 I found at a local thrift shop. I had some question about it though. It says Amiga 2000 Supra drive on the front, inside it has 2 hard drives, one mounted on a controller card and one mounted in the drive bay.

I was looking up what a stock Amiga 2000 has but when I ran a system information program I got the results below. Has this unit been upgraded or was this configuration one of the standard versions commodore released?

I am more familiar with the Amiga 500 which I already own.

That's by far not the standard OCS A2000. A real 68030 with fpu, 2MB chipram and 8MB fastram is a major improvement to the standard Amiga 2000, which was quite similar to the Amiga 500(processor and ram).
May I ask, what you paid for it?

You hit the jackpot! It's not the most powerful you could find, but it's a far cry from a "stock" A2000. Spend a few $$ to bring it up to ECS and you're set.
What do you plan on using it for?
I, too am curious what you paid for it....

I have hooked it up as a replacement for my Amiga 500. I use it to view demos or play games. I have Amiga Explorer on my PC so transferring stuff across is easy. I also have it as part of my vintage computer collection. It's not my rarest system in my collection, thats my SOL-20 but it ranks as one of my best finds.

I walked into a local thrift shop I go to weekly and they had the Amiga 2000, keyboard, original box and an Coleco Adam computer, printer, keyboard with controller as a "computer bundle" for $150. Think they just assumed it was a single computer bundle. The Coleco Adam works as well so was not a deal I could pass up.

That's a price. I guess the A2000 accelerator card is worth 150$ on its own and an Adam is almost priceless. Looks like they had no idea, what they are selling.

Quite a deal. Man, I haven't seen a working Adam in so many years - I forget! I haven't seen an Amiga in a thrift store in ages ether.
The AGA Amigas are my favorite, but the 2000 runs a very close second. I just recently found a one owner 2000HD that, except for the hard drive itself, works great. It's in beautiful shape.

Make sure and check the battery for leakage!! It's under the floppy drive cage. If it leaks and is not cleaned up, will ruin your motherboard. Remove the battery ASAP even if it looks fine!! (it's not needed for operation). You could replace it with a NiMh type if you want.

I just got three A2000's from a local and two of them had this issue and are doa.
