The green E eludes me
It's not there as far as I can see
I've searched the levels from top to bottom
I've waited around in case there's something I've forgotten,
I've destroyed all the monsters; 1, 2 ,3
I've even played right up to level 33!
But STILL that green E eludes me
tip: have you tried looking behind the couch? That's where I usually find lost things. |

Of course. It appears less often but it is there. I usually get two lives per game using that method.
I'm in the process of making a playguide video and have had three tries at recording it already (I didn't score very well on any of those tries). I don't know whether to make the video as a split screen with one half showing how to complete a level normally and the other half showing what happens when you find a flask...
..Dunno how it's going to turn out right now, but it is still a few weeks off completion. I'm hoping to have it done when I get the internet back some time after the 12th. In the meantime just keep plugging away, I'm sure you'll get the hang of it. |

Yeh cool!
...still don't really know what flasks do, they just kinda kill everything right? |

I have already mentioned it several times in this thread and I'm sure lifeschool put it in his guide at the start of this thread (or a link to it), but here goes one last time...
When you see a conical flask appear, collect it. It will instantly get rid of any bad guys onscreen (I don't think you get points from them though) and make icons appear at the top of the level. The icons can be flowers, musical notes or something else. Collect each icon for 500 points, and collect ALL of them within the time limit (30 seconds) to get a 100,000 points bonus.
The more flasks and bonuses you collect, the better your chances of getting near the top spot.
Just for reference, lifeschools guide can be found on page 1 of this thread.
Lifeschool,
That video guide sounds cool, but won't it take forever to get flasks on all 100 levels (even with multiple playthroughs)? There are some levels I never find flasks and there are some I always find flasks on.

@Lonewolf10
Also mate I must add some extra bonus levels: on the level 20 and 30 there is always a "secret door",so don't destroy all the enemies wait a while and the door appears! Go inside and collect all the diamonds in there! It gives you almost 200,000 points! So good luck! |

| But this happens only if you don't lose any lives by the level 20 and 30. |

Yeah it would take forever if I did all 100 levels like that, and since I can't use savestates I don't think I'd get anywhere near that. So I'm basically gonna do a guide showing how far I CAN get; which is only to about level 36 or so. I decided it would be impossible to find flasks on all levels (even up to 36) so I scrapped that idea. I spent today fiddling with the intro sequence so I should be able to make a start in the actual guide over the weekend and have it up next week sometime. At the moment it will be a split screen; the left showing the different conversions and the right showing one of my better play throughs. That should do for beginners.
In the meantime, keep those scores rolling in. This round has been rather quiet so far, and don't forget the compo breaks after this for a few weeks for a summer break - so if you're not playing this round, you're out for a while.
As for flasks, go get em! The max I've had in one sitting is seven, but still failed to break the million.
Aca / Seth - yep, you have to get to level 20 without losing one life. Sounds tough?? It is! I've only managed to do it once, and even then I couldn't get to the door.

I wondered why I have never seen those doors. I assumed it was an arcade only thing. I can usually get through the first 10 levels without losing a life, so will have to work harder. Those extra 200,000 points could be the difference between staying in 2nd place or losing it.

Tell me about it, I keep waiting to be knocked out of 2nd place by someone like yourself or premmisseth.
I was doing fairly well (800K) when I got myself stuck in the left hole on level 33 after the white killer dude had come and gone! Why does he vanish when in hurry up mode? I know he vanishes if I lose a life, but he also seems to vanish after being evaded for so long and never returns... which was why I was stuck and had to give up
(... and it was my best run of the night...)

I hope to have a score to post tomorrow, I haven't played yet. I am going on holiday in 2 days and wont be able to play any more in the round after I leave.
I didn't play much of the last round deluxe galaga because I was busy studying and only got about 50,000 in my few attempts so didn't post a score. |

I was on 900k the other day and was sure of the 1 million only to make a tough decision. There was a yellow 'T' I needed for make an extra life and a purple flask on the same level. I chose the T. I should have chosen the flask! Still trying hard but no joy yet.

That's probably a bug in the game but a very helpful one. Sometimes it doesn't happen and the ghost moves closer and further ahead with every moment, sometimes he just goes away - leaving you all the time you need to complete the level. I especailly like this on levels where you have to shoot the enemies with lightning bubbles. |

Finally had some luck with potions and the like. Got a whole series of the ones where it turns the screen to goodies and if you collect them all you get 100k. Nice...shame it happened so late on...managed to get to round 63! |

Don't count your chickens just yet!
I got 912,000 tonight... it would have been more but I never made it to the door to the bonus area on level 20 That's the first time in 2.5 weeks that I made it to level 20 without being killed, I hope I manage it again.
Does anyone know if the doors appear in the same spot each time, or are they random??
Anyway, congrats LinesMachine. Good to see that the competition is starting to heat up
