|
|
I have a working US Amiga 600, but my Amiga monitor is dead.
What are the best choices for getting color video?
1. Get a "SCART TO AMIGA (RGB) CABLE " cable from Amigakit. Then I need to buy a lcd which has a scart interface that supports this frequency? Any recomendations ?
2. Rgb to VGA cable ? (I have a LCD monitor with vga )
3. buy a crt-style commodore monitor ? Shipping costs will be high.
Thanks alot for any advice, Peter |

| Dont know if its the same for NTSC Amiga's but PAL Amiga's (500/600/1200) all work fine on standard CRT television which can be bought really cheaply these days (paid £15 for my 25" Panasonic set). It will be very very hard to find a modern monitor which supports the Amiga's standard output. |

Haven't tried that option, sorry..

If you do that, you'll only be able to use VGA modes, and most software (games) doesn't use that..
(Unless you get lucky and get a monitor that supports 15khz)
You can get a scandoubler/flickerfixer..
Indivision ECS is the cream of the crop and very nice, albeit a bit spendy.
If you're handy with a soldering iron (or know someone who is), the GBS-8200 (or GBS-8220) works very well.
You just need to solder 5 wires from the included cable to a DB23 (some people have taken standard DB25's and dremeled them a bit to make a DB23).
The GBS-8200 isn't as nice as the Indivision, but for the money, it's really nice...

Personally, I really like the 1084S monitor. I use that, but I have a GBS-8200 as a backup...
Another option is an Amiga-S-Video adapter. There are a few people who make those and s-video is really sharp...
