Yes, Commodore 1084S / Philips 8833 is a classic. You need RGB cable as well, which has 23pins on one end and 9 pins on other. _________________

| If you are just playing games any crt tv will do the job fine, you could connect with Amiga RGB cable, RF lead or any composite/stereo cable. |

started out with a philips cm8833 ages ago... worked pretty good... but even then i considered it to be quite small
my parents had a 55cm (about 22 inch) aristona tv (pretty much a philips tv in anything but name) which would let me connect the amiga+rgb scart without extra work
so with big sad puppy eyes i managed to convince my parents to get a new tv so i could take theirs at a nice discount
oddly enough they moved on to a bigger sharp tv which actually didnt want to run the amiga with same scart cable
so it seems that somehow not every tv has the same scart port
anyway.. "my" new tv was much bigger with the same clear picture as the small monitor gave me.
just had one minor downside, the picture was offset about 1 cm to the left (or maybe it was the right ) on some games
the cm8833 had a bunch of knobs to move and resize the image to your liking which the tv didnt seem to have
those old tvs are practically being given away by now.
so if space is not an issue and size does matter.. i would probably suggest to take a amiga+rgb scart with you when you to see if its actually supported before draging the tv home
pfft long post for my history with words.. hope you got some use for it |

I like long posts, make me feel included
I received the red, white and yellow lead from eBay today and connected it to my 47" LG 450U today and SWOS came up fine, i still love the goalscoring superstar hero song, there was a little flickering, but I'm guessing thats due to the age of the game or something along those lines or maybe due to needing the scart connector and not the one i purchased...I would love to get my miggy 1200 up and running with a decent spec, things like a hddrive so i can load into a OS with folders that have stored games from the original game disks ive bought or started buying for the box art on my shelves haha...an external Fdrive and memory upgrade etc, I ordered my new clean white keyboard from AmigaKit today, along with a new mouse mat, an Amiga bouncing ball sticker (couldnt resist it) and a retro disk storage case....with KEY!! haha.. ive washed the case top/front with some warm soapy water and some elbow grease, dried it off with towels and then placed in the airing cupboard for a while..anyways, im waffling a bit.. did all that, and my bloody joysticks don't work
/Damnyoualltohellllllll........not really, you guys and gals? rock...so i'll be posting a few things that i cannot find the answer to on the forums, just so i dont balls it up so to speak.. |

guess thats the same reason why talk about flicker fixers pop up now and then
as for the joysticks.. im pretty sure i used sega gamepads from my sis now and then.
doesnt quite feel in control like a joystick.. but worked fine on less demanding games (and some a1200 games make use of 2nd button i think)
guess not many sticks beat a old school arcade stick or competition pro tho
or atleast something with microswitches
those leafblade things always ended up giving trouble |

| I have recently bought a sony bravia 40inches at home and i really like the video quality and the sound system, it really gives me a great home theater expereince. i have tried other tv brands but so far i am always a big fan of Sony. They boasts of great quality electronics and are very durable so you wont have to worry about broken sets for quite a long time |

I use old CRT televisions (local manufacturer, not Made in China) and they both are fantastic, clear and crisp.
Some LCD tvs work with Amiga too and give great results. |

I bought my 26" Panasonic with remote for £15 off ebay. Just do a search for tv's within 10 or 20 miles (or however far you can go to collect one) of your postcode and see what is available locally. You will be surprised how many big well looked after CRT's are available for next to nothing simply because people do not want them anymore but don't want to throw them out either. |
