nice find.
No it's not the same gears. Mansell doesn't even have to use first gear in Loews, so gear ratio isn't the same.

Yes, of course. That's the reason, why I have to take a lot of corners in first gear. Very Happy
I guess, it's not even possible to cheat, using lifeschool's savestates.

Glad we're all on the same page. Well, 1:17 is definitely a very impressive time! Thumbs Up

A few tipps about the gears in Monaco, though I seem to be the only person driving manual gears at the moment.
Sainte Devote is easy to master in 3rd gear, if you're breaking early enough. It's more important to be fast on the exit, than on the entrance of the corner, because a long full throttle uphill sector follows. The following Massenet is a 4th gear corner(around 10-11000rpm, so it might be hard to keep the car in fourth gear with auto shifting). After Casino, there's a sector with a lot of 1st gear corners, except Portier, which can be taken cautiously in 2nd. The entrance of the nouvelle(Harbour?) chicane is also 2nd gear, but only the entrance, 1st gear for the rest of the chicane. Tabac might work in fourth, but that's a little bit hairy. Corners 13,14,15,16 are all 3rd gear and the left turn before Rascasse, as well(Maybe 4th works too, but breaking into rascasse too hard isn't a good idea) and finally Anthony Noghes works in 2nd gear, if you hit it perfectly.

Er....hello?!

I basically follow pretty much all those gear guides...although I can take Portier in 3rd at decent revs if I get a good flow after the Casino section.

Oh sorry, I didn't realize you're driving manual gears, as well.
Portier in 3rd? I'll have to give it a try.

If you find yourself in 3rd through Portier then you've done the Casino section at full speed and lined up right for the corner. It's only happened to me twice I think, and then I get so excited I bump the apex of the out section on the Nouvelle chicane.

By the way, so far I haven't tried to go straight over the Nouvelle. From memory it doesn't "work" either by not allowing a completed lap time or just busting the car up....?

Just after making the above post had 4 tries at Imola - this time cutting the green thrice like lifeschool and got an improvement right with the first completed lap:

Imola: 1:13.756

The lap wasn't that great so significantly faster times are possible.
