|
|
I am planning to rebirth my A 1200. There is an old 3,5" 540meg HDD inside, which is half dead. I would like to buy a new one and install it into my Amiga. Could you advice me about limitations of harddisk, suitable for use in Amigas? Is it dependent on its size (in mega/giga bytes), RPM, access speed? Which HDD could you recommend me? And if I will buy it and install, could anyone help me to wake my Amiga up again? I am afraid that I alredy forgot too much... _________________

Ask these dudes about it. They helped me out a couple of times in the past, before this forum was online:

Hey! first of all, tell me whick Roms you have there. I assume you have 3.0 roms right?
If i were you, i would try to get a pair of 3.1 roms, and then install 3.9 OS
With this, you have NO limits at all!
I know people who uses 120 GB hdd on their Amiga!!!!
Its very easy actually to install a hdd in your Amiga. If you need more help,. just let me know!
cheers!

Almost... boot partition must be accessible without any patches, so you'd better keep it below 4GB limit. (Unless you have CPPC SCSI which has TD64 driver in BIOS) |

True, and who needs a HD > 4GB in an Amiga when you can transfer files easily between Amiga and PC?
Besides a 4GB HD can be found for free, just go to a place where they recykle old elecronic stuff and snatch a HD from a laptop _________________ Mea navicula pendens anguillarum plena est |
