Just been watching it on YouTube:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m-IDcTW8JQ4
I can't stand playing it though. It's so boring. BUT!! Some of those later levels are graphically amazing. I've never seen sprite scaling/rotation on the Amiga like that before. Never knew it was possible!
Such a shame they forgot to put a good game in there with all that programming wizardry. |

Agree. Although graphically stunning, I hate this game. _________________

Yep, when it came out the SNES was showing off mode 7 (I think?) rotation and this was billed as having the same tricks. I didn't like the actual game either though. _________________ "The virus of hate infects the ignorant mind" - Biohazard |

It's just another Sonic clone(and a not very playable one),although the Mode 7 like effects are very nice. _________________ [Insert witty quote here.] |

no, i think it is not. You could tell this about any platformer, then. _________________

IMO the only two "Sonic wanna be" Amiga games are :
- Kid Chaos (pretty good one)
- Mr. Beanbag (recently released - not so polished, but decent enough)
OT :
Brian the Lion is one of the best games in Amiga library regarding technically aspect, but unfortunately its playability fails (unfair deaths kills every game, especially arcade ones) _________________ ☭ Some people says : Amiga has no future ! ☭ |

I would add Mr. Nutz. _________________

Mr. Nutz is adding more to puzzle element rather then pure "arcadeish" Sonic. Nevertheless game mechanics is quite similar between these two games. _________________ ☭ Some people says : Amiga has no future ! ☭ |

Hmmm... I'm very surprised that no one has mentioned Zool as the Sonic Wannabe. He was obviously designed from the ground up to be sonics rival and the amigas mascot. The game failed on all accounts.
Brian the lion is nothing like sonic. More like Super adventure island on the snes but nowhere near as good. |

I think that Brian the Lion (what kind of lion is that anyway? ) is simply too hard, when you're jumping on enemies or some platforms you have to be so precise, that's not cool.
Difficulty killed this game, it's almost unplayable. |

Surely Zool is the biggest Sonic type rip off. In my entire life I think I have played Zool for less than 5 minutes. Never understood it's appeal.
As for Brian the Lion. Skipped through the video....does indeed look impressive, never bothered to actually play it....might be one for the comp! |

Cool game, nice graphics and presentation, not too difficult, and pretty fair overall, I think its one of the better Amiga platformers.
Not sure what you guys are talking about here, maybe you're all just getting a little old or something
The only thing I would complain about are those falling coconuts in the first 5 seconds of the game, I don't remember anything else being very trial and error focused |

| If I played it back in the day. I would agree with you as I had much more patience back then. But. I do find he over jumps. and the lack of a second button makes it harder to judge. So when u try to cross the river and fly over the raft because you cant see it oof the screen and end up dying every 5 seconds it does tend to irritate. I can play sonic right now and nothing like that happens. Brian the Lion may look great but the gameplay is a mixture of bad design and dullness. |
