I suggested a possible 'Spoiler Thread' at EAB some time ago and it didnt really go down too well.

Maybe the members here feel differently?

Maybe Kim can make a complete spoiler section, that would be cool, and users could easily ignore it Very Happy

That was my suggestion at EAB but people didnt seem to like the idea. As long as it clearly labelled as a spoiler thread I dont see the problem.

On one hand I see this as a great idea, a section of spoilers...if you don't want to see them you don't look there.

But remember human nature and what happened with Pandora when she was given that box she was told not to open.

I've suggested a Hint & Tip's section for each game, if anyone is that desperate to see the ending of a game I think they should cheat their way through.

And if a game cannot be cheated then maybe someone can send them a save-state if they ask nicely for it, or this could be included in the cheats section?

Remember with Action Replay now working under WinUAE, and the WinUAE debugger cheating for games that don't have trainers or in-built cheatcodes is not too difficult.

If people look at the endings of games and then regret it then they really have no one else to blame.

I remember looking at an endings section in Amiga Power and then kind of regretting it but I didnt blame AP.

How about this idea? Wink

How about setting up another group (Usergroups at top right) called e.g. “Spoiler forum”, so that you have to join this group to get access?

Giving away all the mysterious endings to Amiga games is a sure way of hastening the final demise of interest in Amiga games.

Yeah but only if you LOOK at them. It would be a nice feature for games where people have totally given up hope. Id like to see the end screens for Shadow of the Beast 2 again but Ill never play through it again, no way!

Am I to think that this game endings idea wasn't implemented or discussed further because it was considered crap?

Don't see the problem.

There is a topic already about the best end game screens. That topic also gave a link to a site where the pics of the completion screens are posted.

I reckon go for it, it could be like the iMDB.com site where people discuss movies and put a SPOILER ALERT if they discuss anything which may spoil your enjoyment of the fillm.

eg,

SPOILER ALERT ( Wings )

Took me ages and loads of saved games, but I did complete this in my Amiga playing hey day. Ok ebd game screen, built up nicely by the diary enteries. The final screen was a continuous flypast of planes above some waving people celebrating the end of the war and of course your final diry entry saying you made it to the end

Because not much people wants to know what is awaiting them in the end of their favourite (and yet not finished) games. I have a lot of games that I haven´t completed yet, because they were always too difficult. But now there is a save-state option in WinUAE, that would finally help me. Result is that I am returning back to those already abandoned games, which I given up in past (because of their difficulty) and am trying to complete them again. Like mentioned Walker.

Ok, here's a brief guide to some game endings:

Wings: Nice animated scene of soliders cheering, man waving flag and planes flying overhead.

Defender of the Crown: Robin Hood had the crown hidden in Sherwood Forest. Final picture is nice sunset view from castle.

Future Wars: You goto the badguy's space station and reprogram their computer to make those bomb thingies explode in a different time. You then slip into escape pod and escape. You're then picked up by your friends from Earth and taken back. You decide to stay in the future and continue the fight against the aliens. Nice end screen of you and Lo Ann (getting married maybe?) standing before a huge crowd of cheering people.

Mean Streets: You end up at the MTC secret lab at Alcatraz... After escaping from the boiler room, you make it to the master computer and punch in the abort codes. You then see a animation of the uplink satilite exploding. Next, a shot of a newspaper headline saying that you saved the world. Finally, you pay a visit to Sylvia, and you both hop into your speeder and fly off into the sunset.

Midwinter: Animation of fireworks exploding above log cabins.

Rocket Ranger: Don't know about Amiga ending... I have seen the c64 ending though... After fighting off the guards on the moon, you find out that a bunch of aliens from another planet were behind the Nazi's advance in technolgy. Final picture is you and Jane kissing.
