Let me tell you a story. A story about a frustrated coder, who just a few days away from completing a rather good fighting game, was in trouble. Trouble, because despite the game being good fun and playable, it had no name.

"Oh Ike", said Archer Maclean to his Dwight Eisenhower original "I LIKE IKE" badge, "What name would you prefer?"

The badge gave no answers though. Maclean was at his wits end, "Three blokes beating each other up" lacked punch, "Tekken" was just a made up word that didn't mean anything and "Marble Madness 2" didn't really fit the context.

Finally in pure annoyance, he banged his fist hard on the table, upsetting a tube of whitout all over his Dwight Eisenhower badge.

"DWIGHT! NOOOO!", yelled Archer as the whiteout obscured parts of the 'E' at the end of Ike's name. He rubbed furiosly at the badge, trying in vain to remove the now sealed whiteout, he succeeded only in adding a big scratch to the other side of the 'E'. Although this moment would be one he would never forget, he realised that Ike had indeed replied. He named the game in honour of his heroes last decision, for the badge now read:

I LIKE IK+

Of course some people believe that it was called this because it was in fact "International Karate +", but the subtle references to the election campaign (I mean, really, two guys controllable, but a third continaully making trouble in the background?), can only mean that this is the true story of our newest competition game.

@The Dark Prince:
ROFL!!!

@IK+ in general:
This looks a great choice to play, can't wait to load up UAE!
Great looking logo, too - it's just screaming out to be made a wallpaper - and my MSN display pic Laughing

For the record, I didn't vote because my knowledge of Amiga games is small and don't mind what we end up playing, as long a it's good. Smile

c'mere and FIGHT!!

Oh, and just a fun idea (not mine, but I'll pretend it is...), how about we all post the very first score we come up with, regardless of how terrible? Should be good for a laff Smile

First go. Not too shabby, in fact, but still some way to go:

Haven't played any Amiga for ages. Been too busy playing BF2. Think its time I got back to this compo.

*Dloads IK+ disk and starts playing.

This game was class way back in the early 90s. Come to think of it, still is.

Oh, does it matter what speed its played at, or can we choose?

My first score - http://uk.geocities.com/mikkdc/lacomp.html

7100

My first score was a measly 5900. Not really worth putting up the screenshot. All I can say is avoid playing this game on a PC joypad as it's not really made for it.

My best score so far is this:

28500

My best score so far has been 3000 and that was sheer luck. Can anyone possible post the controls for this game as it seems impossible or is it just that im using a joypad. Anaway, shall keep tryin and will post a screen when it is worth it.

There are essentially 16 moves: 8 directions without the firebutton, and 8 directions with the firebutton.

Forward: Walk forward
Back: Walk back, or block if an opponent is attacking you

Up: Jump

Up+Forward: High Punch
Up+Back: Reverse High Punch

Down: Sweep
Down+Back: Low Punch
Down+Forward: Low Kick

Fire+Forward: Mid Kick
Fire+Back: Back Flip (very handy for running away with)

Up+Fire: Flying Kick

Up+Forward+Fire: Headbutt (stitch that vicar!)
Up+Back+Fire: Double Face Kick (it's almost impossible to kick both opponents at once with this, but that just makes it all the more satisfying when it happens)

Down+Fire: Reverse Low Punch
Down+Forward+Fire: High Kick
Down+Back+Fire: Reverse High Kick
