Hi folks,
Well, it's finally here - Lemonade v0.9.8 (Public Beta). This is your chance to test the program and let us know what you think about it and if you spot any bugs or if you think anything can be improved.
This post is here to help you set up Lemonade and provide information on how you can help us. Full documentation for Lemonade is included within the program and any technical queries you may have can be directed to us here on the forum.
Please read this post COMPLETLY before installing Lemonade.
Thanks for your support!
| Quote: | Lemonade v0.9.8 - Technical Support
Please note: This software is currently classed as Beta software. This means it is still under development/testing and may not perform as expected, may cause errors, and may not be fully functional. This software is being provided to you for the purposes of testing. You are required to use and test the software and report any errors/comments/suggestions back to the developers.
BY INSTALLING THIS SOFTWARE, YOU DO SO AT YOUR OWN RISK. LEMON AMIGA IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE CAUSED TO YOUR COMPUTER FROM USING THIS BETA SOFTWARE. IF YOU ARE UNHAPPY WITH TESTING BETA SOFTWARE, DO NOT INSTALL THIS PACKAGE.
Installation:
*NOTE TO PREVIOUS BETA TESTERS* - Please uninstall any previous beta versions of Lemonade before you install the public beta. When you uninstall Lemonade you will lose any games information you have stored in the database. This is because the old database is incompatible with this new version of Lemonade. We apologise for any inconvenience.
Before installing Lemonade, please ensure you have WinUAE 1.0 or above installed on your computer.
To install Lemonade, download the setup file from Lemon Amiga. You may also want to download the screenshot packs, but these are not essential to install Lemonade.
Once the setup file is downloaded, start the installation program. You will be guided through it with on screen prompts.
When you first start Lemonade you will see the Welcome to Lemonade screen. Please enter the location of winuae.exe and your Kickstart ROMs.
Lemonade will guide you through the rest of the setup process using onscreen dialogs
Known Bugs:
This is a list of the current known problems in Lemonade. We are very interested to see why these bugs are occurring and what can be done to remove them. If you come across any of these bugs while testing, please contact us via the forum and let us know how the error occurred.
Random games scanner error – This error occurs while doing a games scan, but is extremely difficult to reproduce. While doing a scan an error message displaying “runtime error 5” will appear (seems to be random, some scans will display the error, some won’t). We’d really like to know if this happens to you and at which part of the scan process it occurs (step 1, 2 or 3).
Reporting Bugs:
Please report any bugs/comments/suggestions to us via the Lemonade forum. Please do not PM or email your bug reports to us. By posting them on the forum we can keep track of them and also if other people experience the same problem, they will be able to see that it has already been reported and check to see if a solution is available.
When you post a bug report please try to use the following template to help us recreate the problem and fix the error:
Description of bug:
Area/Window where bug occurred:
Error message information:
Steps needed to take to recreate problem:
Microsoft Windows version:
WinUAE version:
Other comments:
Reporting Game Compatibility Issues:
If you have tried playing a game set to playable automatically by the Games Scanner and it doesn’t work (or not as you expected) this is a game compatibility problem.
We spent a long time choosing and testing which version of the different games to register within Lemonade’s database. Unfortunately, some games may have slipped through our tests and the best possible version was not added. To help us out, please report any game compatibility issues to us via the forum.

wow!
testing this long awaited beta on winuae1.1 as we speak .. so far so supeeeeeeerb!! w00t!
out of 1000 or so disk images only 48 games seem recognised, slight concerns about this but as it stands so far its well impressive.
installation was a breeze, scan of adfs didnt take too long, interface is crisp, clear and full of options and its all very easy to understand. all this is my first 10 minute impression, games that have been recognised work flawlessly and am currently giving the game 'extase' a bit of a rinse out .. head is spinning .. i like this program looooooooooooooooads
fantastic work crew , found nothing major bad to report so far ..... _________________ ~ he never lost his hardcore ~

Hi!
I think this warrants a first post
I've tested the public beta and yes, it's great. Finally a MAME/GB64 style interface for the Amiga. Robert and Kim have both done an outstanding job!
I have one suggestion which I truly hope is implemented in a future version.
The database needs to be downloaded. I have no problem with this, since I'm always online. However, I have friends who are not online and I'm sure would like to use Lemonade on a regular basis. The same can be said for my laptop, which I refuse to put online.
Why not make the database downloadable, alongside the screenshots? I'm sure it wouldn't be very big (less than 1mb compressed, I'd guess) and would be much more convenient for everyone.
I'm guessing I can probably copy over a file after Lemonade has downloaded the database (the .cab file?) but it feels messy doing it that way.
hmmm. It seems that the cheats also need to go online... any chance of those being downloadable too?
I'm so used to MAME with everything available as files (history.dat, etc.).
Thanks! I love Lemonade! |

Regarding the games scanner...
I have my ADFs stored on another computer on my network. I have that particular folder mounted as Z:\ using "Map Network Drive".
When I ask Lemonade to scan this particular directory, nothing happens. It sits there counting. I waited 5 minutes with nothing at all. None of the buttons unhighlight either. I was forced to kill Lemonade.
Is it possible to scan for ADFs on a network, as I'm trying to do?
And as a small sidenote. The Games Scanner window still has the VB project icon. I'm sure you can update that with a lemon, or a boing ball, or something
I'm using Win XP Pro + SP2 and WinUAE 1.1.1 |

Yeah, I liked the idea when I first heard about it.. kept up with the development and stuff..
Downloaded.. it looks loverly an all.. BUT..
I don`t/can`t use joypads and the standard keys are total rubbish..
I`ve just got a Catweasel controller of which I now use my old joypad ( home built ) http://www.bellewithabite.co.uk/joyboard1.jpg
I can`t configure the keys and not use joysticks
Can`t use this nice piece of software _________________

That's one of the drawbacks of doing something like this, only one version of the game can be registered in Lemonade The only way to make sure you have all the games in Lemonade recognised by the scanner is to have a copy of TOSEC where you have all the different cracks of a game. Just did a scan with TOSEC v0.26 and got 1655 games set to playable.
We would release a list of the filenames recognised by Lemonade, but because TOSEC changes the names it wouldn't do much good.

We might make the database/cheats downloadable in a future version. The idea was to make it as easy for people as possible, i.e. not downloading lots of files. But you make a good point, and we will seriously think about it About the games scanner: I think we discovered a few weeks ago the scanner had difficulty with network drives and RAID drives, it will be fixed in the final version. Sorry about that.

This was suggested by TheDarkPrince last week and we'll be adding support for you to configure the controls You could import a custom winuae configuration where the controller is all set up and use that. Lemonade will just add configuration lines for the adf files and kickstart roms.
TheDarkPrince said he would write a guide about configuring the controls for Lemonade, so it might be worth hanging on for that I'm sorry I can't be of more help at the moment, I'll try to come up with a better solution later. |

Thanks for the answer Robert!
I have another quick suggestion. I don't think it should be too hard to implement. Random game selection.
In Mame32, you would hold CTRL+R to cycle through games randomly.
In GB64, it has a button that you click with your mouse button.
I prefer the Mame32 version, but yeah, how about random game selection? |

I love it. Been scanning my TOSEC collection for a while now, and have played severeal games of Lemonade Hangman. Nice touch, and damn good fun. I love that you can save notes for each game. In an adventure game or RPG this is very useful. You guys have done a great job. I am forever thankful. _________________ "You can have your Playstation, X-Box or whatever. I want my Amiga 500." |

|

I'm, running XP using 800x600 and the Lemonade window doesn't fit on the screen. The bottom line - where it says Welcome to Lemonade etc. - is below the screen edge and I have to hide the tool bar and my Start-button to view it all. Not a big deal but aesthetically it would be better if it fit. And also to be able to maximize Lemonade. I think it looks a little messy when a window can be seen on top of the desktop.
Otherwise, nice frontend! |

Robert i have tosec 0,26 and i have 1600 playable games from 1800. why 200 more recognized games are not playable? is something wrong with the lemonade configuration or my games are corrupted? _________________ Live And Let Die

Ok, scanned my TOSEC collection (2005-09-25), which has 19870 files, and Lemonade found 1628 of 1856 games. I know some of the missing ones are CD32 versions but there were many disk version games missing too.
Despite the fact that so many games weren't found, I love Lemonade already, it's very user-friendly and easy to use.. And it looks great!
But the best thing is that all the games have their own configs, it saves so much time and nerves when you don't have to hassle with them in every single game. _________________ |

There can be several reasons why a game wasn't found when scanning a complete TOSEC.
* CD32/CD only games are not playable as default
* It didn't work with Lemonade configs and has been removed
* It has to be launched from WB
* It was buggy
* It must be installed to harddisk/floppy before running
* You only scanned the ADF games folder (Lemonade also has educational and public domain games not included in this folder)
* We didn't find it in TOSEC _________________
