I'm borrowing this thread, since my question is also about a game which I've forgotten the title of.
I'm looking for the title of a french, belgian or dutch game (at least I think it is).
It's a regular side scrolling walk-jump-fight game, you play the character of a robot (or android, rather). Again, my memory is a bit fuzzy so I might be way off. You walk around in some sort of city, you can enter a sleazy hotel and walk into sleazy rooms and meet sleazy hookers to whom you can "make love".
At some point the bad guys start throwing grenades, or maybe it's the player himself who throws them.
I believe the "cracked by" intro has a digitized version of Iron Maiden's Phantom of the Opera playing in the background. |

Rather than start yet another 'Name That Game' thread, I'll post in this one too:
Sorry, all I have to go on is a really vague description. I enjoyed this game thoroughly, but cannot recall its name for the life of me. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I've searched for this game on every amiga site I've come across for the past 4 years.
I found the game on a CD32 compilation disk of what I believe were PD and shareware games.
The game's main window was made up of a large game view, with a blue or green sidebar down the right, which I think extended in a thin line across the bottom of the screen. In the top right corner was a small map overview, with options buttons underneath it for movement and weapon selection and stuff.
The gameplay was turn-based, you against the computers. The view of the main window was a top-down tiled look, kind of similar to the look of the early Alien Breed games.
On the first level you were in a prison (possibly on a space ship) and you had 3, maybe 4, team members in seperate cells. You had a certain amount of movement points, which could be used and at the end of your turn the computer guards would get a turn.. You could see them walk past outside your cell. In order to escape you had to plant a bomb by the door and run to the other end of your cell, and go free your cell mates.
On the second level you were on the ground in a white complex area which was surrounded by green gardens and trees and things. You had to kill the enemy (possibly robot) units. You had access to weapons like napalm.
Vague, yes, but, hey, it was about 10years ago.
Thanks for reading. |

Thanks for the suggestion. I finally managed to find it and give it a go. It's definately similar. It's possible that the game I played was a PD copy of it, of sorts. Of course, in the usual rose-tinted-glasses way we see old games, I think the version I played was far better.
On a side note, I think I remembered something else about it. I'm fairly sure that when you failed, it had the "It's game over maaan!" soundbyte from the film Aliens. |

Sorry to double post, but I thought I'd share a little trivia that I found out during my searching.
Julian Gollup, credited with the design for Laser Squad, was also important in the creation of the X-COM series, which evolved from his design for Laser Squad 2. He recently released Laser Squad Nemesis, a game that looks to play kind of like the second generation of X-COM games, but can be played via email. |

Mind if I hijack this thread too?
I'm trying to remember the name of a turn-based strategy game set in space, best described as "North & South in Space". It had 3 screens that I remember. The first one was a grid which took up the entire screen. To start with, you had, as I recall, 3 spaceships in a corner and your opponent (the computer), 3 ships in the opposing corner. You took turns moving your craft one square at a time, with the ability to merge your ships into a fleet. When opposing ships meet in the same sector, the screen changes to a scrolling shoot em up similar to Sidewinder. The attacking player takes control of the ship and tries to break down the defences. The 3rd screen had all the ships on screen at the same time, facing each other on either side of the screen. Players took turns to pick fighters and attack.
I think this game was shareware or licenseware.

That's the one!
No wonder I couldn't remember it. The name is just too short and generic. |

Back to the original question: I absolutely have not idea, how to beat the first enemy I meet in Fire and Brimstone - that sleeping troll that awakes as I shoot to him or as I come close to him. Do I need any additional keyboard controls to use any item on him or something? I tried to play it on CD32 (using joypad only), but I canīt work out how to pass him... _________________
