Don't forget EPYX's Street Sports Baseball and Street Sports Basketball they had black and white players.
Double Dragon springs to mind also.
As for the Amiga the volleyball game Over the Net included players of color as well.
What I found strange about this game though was that depending on who you were the spectators in the background changed skin color along with you. Could have left it equal at all times.
IMO This has all changed from back then. There is a pretty equal balance IMO in sports games at least for all players. MVP Baseball 2004, John Madden, Basketball Games all these have for the most part the actual players with their skin color and ethnic background (chinesse etc...).
Of course, I'm much more familar with North American Sports then European ones so it's impossible for me to say anything further here. But the programmers of today seem to me much more alert to individuality and uniqueness. _________________ 5...4...3...2...1...Oh no! *POP* |

But if the black community feels hurt by this, why retaliate in the same way? Show that you are stronger, by not acting in the same childish way. Just as I said before: If you want to be treated with respect, respect the other person first, so that they will see their error and respect back. If you continue to do the same back, the other side will continue too and when will it end?
So we here should not stick to issues like that. It has been said before, nowadays you see all colours and nationalities in the games. So lets all get over the past and look towards the future. _________________ International Karate is being remade on the PS2 |

@Jim
Re: lethal weapon
The main character was either mel gibson or danny glover.
You started off as mel gibson but you could go into one of the rooms from the very start (i think it was the training room or something) and danny was there, you can change characters and use Danny for the whole game. |

Kick Off may not of had black players, but it had a black player on the box art. Some say this is due to computer limitations but in kick off 2 there was a kit designer section where you could change the colour of kits using sliders to many different colours. Surely this could of covered skin tone as well, even if it meant the whole team was black.
Anyway, games with ethnic minorities in, Double Dragon had a black man names bobo in it, pffffff nope I'm stuck now. |

Try Dune out then.
You start as a white family in a strange world, and the only way to survive is to meet the tribes, learn their culture and adapt to their way of life. You win the game by cooperating with locals and learning their ways.
Racist ways would have you acting like the Harkonnens - and dying very quickly.
This is what I call a thoughtful game. _________________ www.brandempire.com.au |
