Did anyone else have these painful years, I used to play other people Amigas, but never could afford a Amiga myself, and wanted to play the games they play, not C64 conversations or even many titles were Amiga or 16bit only!
When i finally cauight up in 1993 and a Migga myself I was happy, but not for long, as now its seems everyone was playing Doom on PCs.
Just couldn't win! |

Yeah I did! But the C64 was awsome so why complain?
Anyway I had a Mega Drive (Genesis) if I wanted to play 16bit so maybe that made up for it. |

It was still awesome to me but not to Amiga then PC owners, god didn't they bad-mouth the machine a lot in its last few years.
Like any crap game even for Amiga or PC, put aside and called a 'just a commodore game", not a crap Amiga game what it really was..
Sega Mega Drive would be almost identical as Amiga games, such consoles werent for me, as sometimes I like doing some serious computing...
(Well at least you didnt have to put up with the painful disk swapping and loading times, compters did back those days) |

I do too and I guess it made me appreciate the C64 more.... especially after I had to sell my beloved beauty. However, this only made me romanticise both machines and glorify their value for a number of years. _________________

The ST and Amiga seemed so expensive when I had my C64 - I ended up losing interest in gaming towards the end of the 1980's and only got back into ot when I discovered emulation! _________________ www.lemon64.com - For all C64 fans!

I'd call them the best years,
the years without an amiga _________________ Iti place actiune, iti place sa stai cu sufletul la gura? Atunci te invitam sa joci jocuri de actiune cum nu ai mai jucat niciodata. |

I remember it. My brother had a c64 before me and then I got one. Years later he got an Amiga and I was stuck with the good ol' C64 I had and I was still happy with it, because my brother would like to play strategic games on my c64 and would let me play on his Amiga in return. So, I had it a little better that way. I could play both the machines I love(d) so!
Then later on I got me my own Amiga, after I had to sell my trusty c64! ( I had to, my brother moved!) _________________ International Karate is being remade on the PS2 |

Actually I remember the days when I got a C64 and nobody else in my neighborhood did... I'd say it was from 1983 to present day. Damn Speccy-loving Spaniards
The Miggy was easily the most popular 16 bits computer in Spain, so it was no problem for me to find people to swap... erm... comment about games with
BTW: The site looks AWESOME. Thumbs up, Kim! _________________ Let's face the obvious: yesterday we were nerds, today we're the cognitive elite. Let's conquer. |

I understand that. But here (Netherlands and then the place I used to live in) had a large community with C64, but a smaller one with the Amiga. So I had to go around and get the games.
In the c64 days I runned a club with two buddies of mine. We ran it in the place we lived in. But with the Miggy, I had to do alot more and I remember that I would bring back games and my brother would be waiting to see what I had gotten. _________________ International Karate is being remade on the PS2 |

No I didn't have that.. probably coz I had no friends :
I did lust after the A1000 for a bit.. but then I eventually managed to get one so my friends were envious of me.

No, it didn't happen to me, at least with the Amiga! Back in '87, myself and a friend at work were among the first we knew to own the wonderful machine. He had his about a week before me (mail order, tsk) but it didn't take us long to swap each other's games. It was great being one of the first, but the downside was that in our quest for more games it was a long wait for others that we knew to get their Amiga's, and the chance to trade games with them.
For the C64 it was a different story for me however- waiting to get my hands on one seemed to take forever! |
