|
Are there other Amiga fans out there considering this beauty?
- ARM® Cortex™-A8 600Mhz+ CPU running Linux
- 430-MHz TMS320C64x+™ DSP Core
- PowerVR SGX OpenGL 2.0 ES compliant 3D hardware
- 800x480 4.3" 16.7 million colours touchscreen LCD
- Wifi 802.11b/g, Bluetooth & High Speed USB 2.0 Host
- Dual SDHC card slots & SVideo TV output
- Dual Analogue and Digital gaming controls
- 43 button QWERTY and numeric keypad
- Around 10+ Hours battery life
If I have read the topics regarding this device correctly, than it should be able to emulate all the amiga games perfect. (do NOT pin me down on that one, dive in the forums and have a look at it yourself...)
forums: http://www.gp32x.com/board/index.php?showforum=61
It has an overclocking option that clocks the CPU from 600MHz to 900MHz.
It can emulate everything between NES and PSX1...
(and off course most of the other "exotic" retro consoles / machines, if I am right)
A full keyboard, touchscreen, TV out + 100% flawless amiga emulation ...well...that is what we all want...right? ....at least I am...
edit:
| Quote: | When and where can I buy it?
It is already available to selected developers and preorders in approximately August for casual users via UK, USA, Canada, Germany and Turkey. |
This means the device should be ready by now, but looking at the blog it is still in full development
| Quote: | How much will it cost?
Around £199 (inc VAT), $330, Euro212 (Ex.VAT). |
Not to bad...could be worse.... |

Most pointless post ever award goes to the post above!
To get back on topic, yeah it does look good. Although, emulating "all the amiga games perfect" isn't possible on a 4ghz quad core PC yet, let alone something this 'weak'...
but it'll do for emulating a lot of the amiga games, and the MD/SNES etc. _________________ English Amiga Board

Looks good enough to me, even if it don't emulate 100%. If it emulates anything up to the N64 then that be the perfect handheld for me.
I've given up on next gen consoles like PS 3 or the reverse-gen gimmicked Wii. |

I'd like to see some more screen shots and gain a better idea of what it can do - as of yet I'm not too impressed.
Site needs improving also. _________________ Please refer all site and database related matters directly to me - incl. missing games, links, screenshots and suggestions. |

Some Infos from the official site.
Emulators that are in progress and will work in 100% speed when they are ready:
Dosbox (up to 386)
Amiga [Amiga 500]
Arcade Games up to early 90th
Atari Jaguar
Genesis/Megadrive/SegaCD
NeoGeo AES/MVS
Nintendo 64
Playstation
SNES
Emulators that could be ready very fast (after the developers get a Pandora) and would work with 100% speed:
Amstrad [zx-81]
Atari 2600/7800
Atari 800/XL/XE/5200
Atari ST
Colecovision
Commodore Plus/4
Dreamcas
Gameboy Advance
Intellivision
MSX
NES/Famicom/FDS
NeoGeo Pocket/Colo
Sam Coupé
Sega 32X
Sega Master System & Game Gear
Sinclair ZX-80/81
Tandy Color Computer
TI-92 Calculator
TI 99/4A
Thompson TO7-70
Turbografx-16/PC-Engine/CD-ROM
Vectrex
Wonderswan/Color
Beside this great thing for retro lovers, it is a great Machine for Homebrew Games and open sorce games (for example Quake 2, Doom 3, ScummVM), mp3 player, mobile video player (you don't have to reencode videofiles, it plays all formats like pc's do).
I order my Pandora tommorow to be one of the first 3000 people in the world. _________________

Amiga 500 emulation... aka "we cant be bothered to add HD support, a kickstart selector and some extra ram settings"
hmm.

^^ UAE4ALL "fullspeed" amiga emulation on Pandora. ^^
There's no sound, so how the f**k is that fullspeed? PSPUAE is fullspeed on a lot of stuff with no sound. _________________

I was tempted to put my name down for one of these last year, was put off by the build uality - heard the nubs were dropping off and some cracks in the casing - may all be sorted now??
I went for a Nokia N900 as it was a phone and emulated the Amiga, Playstation, Snes, Megadrive, etc - and web browsing was good on it. _________________ Fave Amiga Games:

I've got a Pandora and I'm very happy with it. Haven't tried much Amiga software on it yet, but the C64 emulation works very well, as does other game systems.
I actually purchased it at the new price but still have my pre-order pending. Unfortunately, I've been asking for a refund for my pre-order by calling them and emailing them and nobody is getting back to me.
If you decide to get one then you should contact EvilDragon directly.

How would this compare to say, the MCC, loaded w/
a c64, amiga, and maybe another op system? _________________ Who is John Galt?

The main reason I got this instead of a Dingoo or other portable emulation system is the fact that it has a full keyboard, which is better for computer emulation.
I'm sure an MCC system would work better for at home use, but I bought the Open Pandora for the portability.

Been following this for a LONG time, yes its a very nice thing I would have to own one but £350(ish) is a bit to high for me. Hopefully now that production has been moved to Germany they will start appearing in greater numbers and the cost might come down a litter. However I have a very bad feeling that this great little machine might have missed the boat a bit _________________

Not to forget, Lemonamiga member john4p coded an excellent Amiga500 emulator(uae4all) for it.
I'm really considering to buy one, as the new production in Germany seems to start in a few days/weeks. |
