Save your cash and just buy a Nokia N900, phone, camera, video camera. full QWERTY keyboard - can be overclocked to run even faster too.

Open source so you get a lot of homebrew stuff. Add to the fact you get a lot of the top comercial game releases and ports, etc, Need for Speed, Real Football, etc.

DosBox run's fine, the Amiga emulation is superb, same with MAME, Genesis, Snes, etc. Can even buy a Game Gripper pad that fits over your keyboard to resemble a joypad controller.

Also the internet browsing is good - just no flash player - not sure of that's the same with The Pandora.

I made the decision to buy the N900 rather than The Pandora and it was a good decision as I also needed a new phone at the time.

Unfortunately, I've been asking for a refund for my pre-order by calling them and emailing them and nobody is getting back to me. Mad

They FINALLY responded to my emails last week and I was able to get a refund for my pre-order. I paid for the pre-order Pandora more than two years ago and never received it.

When I paid the new "full price" for the one I did get, they had it to me in a week. They really didn't do a good job for everyone who gave money up-front for the pre-orders.

Still, it is a neat little device. The keyboard is functional, but it's still not great. It does work really well for emulating older systems. Smile

OK, but N900 is out of production now for some time and I don't want to use my mobile phone as a hendheld. If the pandora is low on battery, I can switch it off and that's it. If your Nokia is low on battery, nobody can call you anymore. That's why I already own a Caanoo ,whose Amiga Emulation is quiet weak. It's no real match to the Pandora. But I might even buy one of those Yinlips or JXD Android handhelds instead.

Yeah they're nice if you're on a budget, but honestly, you absorb the majority of the price up just by being on a contract as opposed to any type of pay as you go phone.

The Xperia Play is faster than both of those consoles too. Those run around 800 to 900mhz. The play runs at 1Ghz & can be overclocked to 2Ghz. I would be surprised if any of those consoles ran some of the newer games on the market, like GTAIII or Shadowgun.

And apart from the Play also being your phone & receiving all the recent updates, it's nice & small. Seriously, you can carry it around in your pocket all day & not even know it was there. Handhelds the size of the PSP or Vita are just too big to carry around everywhere you go imo.

The jxd & yinlips handelds are nice & you get a lot for your money considering the cheapest one can be imported for as little as £60, but for a bit more money you can get something a lot nicer & more practical.

I bought my XP back in May & it's been a fabulous bit of kit. I've rooted it & overclocked it to 2Ghz, installed about 10 emulators, various optimized android games, like GTAIII & it's handled everything I've thrown at it. It even runs N64 emu nicely. I would recommend one solely as a gaming device, the fact it's an android smartphone just makes it perfect.

I do not have the XP (only the N900) but the XP is a serious bit of kit. I went for the N900 just because of the physical QWERTY keyboard.

I really feel that mobile gaming is the way forward. You look at the disppointing sales of the 3DS - and the quality of some of the mobile games (not even talking about emulators here) and the amount of excellent apps out on there on Android (pity the N900 is Maemo so no ap store - but plenty of downloads of fan sites)

I would not be surprised if we saw a Nintendo phone /gaming handset in the near future.

If you are worried about limited battery - just buy a spare one or keep an in-car charger in your glovebox.

Snap! I own two spare batteries & I always take one of them with me when I go out. Both official SE ones too. Picked them up for £4 each off Ebay! I'll be going to a festival this year, so will probably get a couple more to last the weekend. It takes a few seconds to change a battery so it's super convenient.

Well its back in production now if you want to drop a little over £300 on one. Looks like all the new ones come with 512 ram up from 256 which is nice. I have seen them sell on ebay for around the £250 mark. I keep looking at them but its a LOT off money for something that would be a little more than a toy to me
