Hi there!
I guess it's a well known story over here, but I'll tell it anyway
Born in 1970, the Commodore computers were a big part of my life when I was a kid. Beginning with a C64, a C128 and after that switching to Amiga with an A500, I learned how to program, I enjoyed the great games, demo's and music and I got into the hobby of computers. I bought an Amiga 2000 (with Bridgeboard, GVP controller, harddisk, second floppydrive, flickerfixer) and later on even a 1200 with a harddisk (the latter 2 I still own today), but finally the Amiga scene died a slow but certain death... For a long time my two remaining Amiga's were stored neatly on my attick.
For years after that, I was getting more and more frustrated with PC's, Windows and failing soft- and hardware. In 2005 I saw the light and switched to Apple. Since then I got the Amiga-feeling back when I worked with computers, but I always missed a small part.
A couple of months ago, I had a friend over who gave my his (very!) old Amiga 500 and the Highscreen monitor that came with it. The A500 was beyond repair. Being stored in a damp space, the computer developed lots of rust, the entire keyboard was a goner and the drive was busted too. I think the mainboard can still be saved, so I'll keep that for spare parts. The monitor, mouse and joysticks were a welcome part to a new collection!
Getting the old hobby fired up again, I decided to get my A2000 and A1200 out again. Unfortunately, the A2000 suffered the well known leaking battery syndrome and was quite dead too. I'm trying to save the machine, but not being an electronics expert, I'm at a dead end what to do now. The A1200 still runs strong, but for playing games this is not the best machine.
Because of the games part, I went on a quest for a "new" A500. It seems that still quite a few are around and they are quite cheap ($30 to $40), so within a week I got my hands on a machine and I still have 3 Amiga 500's in my eBay watchlist I want one or two spare machines.
Well, that's my Amiga story so far |

Hi there.
There are a fair few people here with good hardware knowledge, hopefully of use to you. Me mostly being a casual game player will just wish you a warm welcome, and feel free to come play some games in the League with us.
