I'm back up and running now. My very old modem had a fit when I was automatically upgraded to ADSL2+. All good now, obscene download speeds and all. After two weeks offline I'm gonna have to wrestle myself off the net to play some Roadkill.
Can't believe I went away and missed the invasion of the clowns. lol. _________________

My isp is touting the potential speed as 24MB down and 1.4MB up.
I'm getting mixed results. My modem is saying 20MB / 1MB. While online tests are giving results nearer 16MB / 0.8MB. Considering my previous package was performing at about 6MB down, I'm seriously noticing the difference on downloads either way.
I think the only people offering faster potential here are the fibre optic cable broadband at 50MB. No idea how it actually performs though. I've also seen 2.5MB upstream advertised somewhere.
Different at your end? _________________

24MB is the max offered in aus, but they are always talking about how far we are behind other countries. They are planning to build a new broadband network capable of 100Mb!! (5-10 years, 40 Billion dollars)
Im on 20Mb / 1Mb! which im very happy with! but some of that 2.5 Mb upstream would be nice!! _________________

We have VDSL in our city (Oulu.fi) from local phone operator and the most common speed is 10/10 Mbps, which is available for all houses. But nowadays you can get also 100 Mbps for many houses. Other operators offer those 24/1 style low upstream connections, but they're generally more expensive and that's why they aren't popular in this part of the country . Students have been privileged to have free/cheap 10/10 since 90's and one certain campus has had 100M since millennium or so too
But then back into Roadkill... it's seems to be pretty buggy game. I've lost some good starts in many different ways CD32 version is working pretty ok now when I run it without s-s and without setpatch. Still there is annoying things like getting car into eternal rotating loop over the pegs.. giving up the game with pause menu doesn't help either, because it trashes the retried game. Only way is to quit completely. I've also got car into eternal explosion loop, where it should explode, but it doesn't. You can move exploding car like pixel per second, but can't kill it to be able to retry.
And with setpatch (OS3.9) the game crashes at the end before the hiscore list commonly. It gives WHDload requester saying that input.device crashed etc. And sometimes I've seen WHDload requester saying something about level 3 autovector and copper/vblank/blitter...
But despite the problems and annoying things in this game, I've learned to enjoy it too |

Didn't realize you were up in North Finland. Very exotic (compared to Yorkshire). And michael, I doubt Aus is far behind anyone. Especially not the UK. I frequently hear mainland Europe is already trialing new tech.
As for that endless spin on the bumps. Man that pissed me off. Only happened once though, and I'm starting to actually control the car. Find Hammer and Cyclone are my favourites. Although I've never played a game where it's so hard to straighten the car up. It just doesn't want to do it.
Only a couple of days left now. _________________

I know what you mean, one of the levels starts off with speed bumps which invariably send you flying into a spike trap, which in turn bounce you back into the next set of bumps, and then you get destroyed by the spikes on your return. Grrr...
I've also decided that I can't stand inferno or cyclone; they don't seem to be able to stand up to my brand of driving (using the autocorrect from hitting walls instead of actually steering)
However, Hammer is loving the missiles (cept when the game fires your own missiles at you, anybody else noticed this?) So I can proudly say...
3,164 Million!
Yeah, take that, AAA! Hopefully I'll be able to hold onto this one for more than 10 minutes... |

I've got too many own missiles coming and hit back . I love Demolition, because it's purple . I have love-hate relationship to this game currently... _________________ "I'm a blond bimbo girl, in the fantasy world" |

Just about... As it happens, I did play another round afterwards...
3,827 Million
The only way I've found to avoid blasting yourself with your own missles is to be behind your competitor when you fire them! This also helps when you didn't count how many you had left and accidently fire a rocket uselessly... _________________ That most rare of noble beasts, the Land Seahorse! |

Think this is about the best I'm going to get, can't get past that track with the ram walls and the diagonal bits. |

First of all, hello after a long break, and thanks to Graham Humphrey who has been helping me these past 24 hours to solve a problem that I had with the ADF of Roadkill. This is my first go on the game after a few years, I´ve lost all the good feelings on it, but at least I contribute to the forum and share great moments with all of you. I hope to improve a bit before the time limit expires!
