So OnLive has finally come to the UK. If anyone's got BT broadband then you get 3 months free usage of the playpack (100 games including homefront, Deus Ex etc etc) and the data transfers aren't chargeable or counted as part of your allowance.

I've just signed up for it so I'll have a blast when I get home and see what it's like. ANYWAY, the reason I mention it is (bizarely) you get Bards Tale as part of the playpack! God knows what version it is.

Let us know what you think of it, I tried it here in the US (as a post shows somewhere) and had mixed feelings.

So I'm a bit bleary eyed this morning coz I was up all night with the new child and gaming with him over OnLive, investing some time to see if it's any good.

If you can't be bothered to read the rest of this, then in summary I agree with EvilCensor's US OnLive feelings. OnLive in the UK is a mixture of success and dissapointment.

Firstly I don't think I can blame my line speed for any lag or jitter issues. I've got a pretty stable 6-8mbps line. So by OnLive's recommended tech specs I should get the product as it was intended.

But the lag is noticeable. Especially with FPS games like Homefront: Multiplayer. Does it make it unplayable? It's borderline. My PC gaming rig is old; a dual core with (decent) 256mb graf card and 2gb ram. So I'm used to struggling specs so if you have a top end gaming rig you're gonna be pretty unhappy with OnLive.

But if you DO have a top end rig then chances are you aren't gonna be looking at OnLive in the first place. It's aimed at the poor people and those whose wives don't let them spend thousands on mother boards and cooling tubes.

Personally I think it's decent enough to continue using, and with my provider I get the playpack for free for 3 months so I'll give it some time. It is quite cool to see cutting edge grafs on your netbook!
