I can't believe it, Dune II was on my list of "never gonna happen in the LA comp".

Really chuffed that we are playing it!

70 minutes! - First go, played with ordos, turned out to be a challenging map. I think Atreides and Harkonnen should be easier for anyone thinking of trying.

I just noticed on your playthrough the enemy harvested alot more spice on yours than they did on mine, how did they do that in less than half of the time I had? Strange!

How the hell you managed that in half an hour, Michael? It's been about 14 years since I've played that level and I remember it being a long winded battle then too.

I could do with some strategy tips. I found they attacked fast and quite strong, so I had to build up a lot of rocket towers for defence. Actually had so many I reached a building limit. Used the Starport for all my artillery. When I got round to attacking I had to plug away at their towers with rocket launchers until finally rolling the tanks through. All the spice was harvested and I nearly ran out of cash from all the repairs. A tough slog. Fun though.

2 hours 46 minutes!

And just because I like it, here is some of the endgame carnage.

The enemy almost always harvest the same spice as the human player. They also cheat for cash because they never run out.

* Build quickly at the start! (no concrete)

* Build 4 refinery's straight up, then buy 2-3 more harvesters at the starport when you build it

* Build lots of palaces. And dont forget to use your super weapons!
- The Harkonnen Death hand is massively powerful but inaccurate, use it to aim for key enemy buildings. Then roll in the tanks!
- The Atreides Freemen are little goers but you need to give them a hand.
- The Ordos Sardukar are deadly and very fast suicide unit, But not particularly bright!

* One technique i use for defence is to place a Palace then put rockets behind the palace. This way the rockets never get shot at and the palace can be repaired for free, just keep a tank handy to take out any Rocket Launchers that creep up.

* If you build a repair centre, surround it with walls or other buildings. This way the Carry-all's (buy a few) will return your units to battle (or last position)

* Carry-all's are very handy for your harvesters, but only buy them when you have excess cash.

* Repair Centre's and Heavy Factory are enemy favourites (to destroy), think about where you build them.

* Keep a tank or two around the back of your base to combat enemy drops. (no need to surround your base with Turrets)

* Starport Prices are very random, go in and out till you get a good price
- Rocket Launcer $180 - $270
- Seige Tank $240 - $360
- Harvesters $180 - $250

* You can kill the sand-worm! Remove all you vehicles from the sand and it will stop moving!

* Take out One enemy at a time

*Use your weak units to scout out the enemy base

* Kill the enemy Construction Yard(s) first

* If your rocket launchers are getting hit by the rocket turrets, try aiming at the ground in front of the turret (so as to stay out of range), they are inaccurate enough that they will hit it.

* 5-6 Siege Tanks will take out a turret quite quickly

* If you decide to use Orniphoters (from the starport) buy them early and buy as many as possible. Coordinate your attack with your tanks if possible.

* Atreides Sonic Tanks are the best defence against Sardukar's

I will have another game and see what else i can come up with! Very Happy
