Wow, things have moved on a pace since last time I checked this thread. Great news that this is happening. I guess an intro video compo is out of the question as this is probably the hardest video to make. I could give it a go, but I hope my thick northern lancashire accent won't put people off. I guess I could always do it in the style of a Hollywood film announcer... 'AND NOW... FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME.. WITNESS THE AWESOME POWER OF.. (a 20 year old computer, are you jokin me or what?!)
Seriously though, if I make anything I'll upload it to my own youtube account first and then take it from there... Would be good to get the ball rolling. |

Not really my strength, the presentation thing--have you
decided on a 'mission/format' for this particular youtube channel? Is it
to be something of a 'storefront' for this site, and if so,
does/would it encompass the EAB? Lemon 64?
What's the name going to be?
So many questions---so little time
Signed,

Well, here's my introductory video. I tried to make it punchy to give folks a mouthwatering FLAVOUR of the Amiga, - with the merest glimpse of the site at the end. Included are many games we all know and love. If they wanna find out more, they know where to come.

Very nicely done sir - good job and it is obvious you've put a lot of effort into this
I would like to put this onto our new YouTube channel if you do not have any objections (we're not handing out login details for our account, for now at least - it's not really practical given the potential security risks).
If anybody would like a video to appear on our channel, please let us know - we will need access to it somehow so either me or EC can upload it. Of course, the original authors will get full credit for it. _________________ Lemon/EAB Super League 2013: Round 6 - Arcade Pool

@lifeschool--that was the s####!! I don't know how you did
it all in what, a few hours--anyway--
Good stuff
@Graham Humphrey--so is this to be some sort of
weekly/monthly news/magazine update thing--something
for members to go to 'catch up on things?' Or, more a
one-shot deal to 'bring in the site hits'?
(I'm being a pest, I know -- but it's all in good fun )
From what I've gathered so far, using youtube as a tool
to point to a web site is not unheard of, though more in
the way of ad-verts.
I'll stop.

Free promotion is always good, I don't mind directing people to it via my blog, specifically when I do an Amiga related one. _________________ Check out my blog RGO below, latest post now up!

Oh wow, thank's so much eveybody for your kind remarks about the video, and to threeheadedmonkey who left me a message. I am very happy with the final result - I'm very proud of it actually, it all came together like magik. Of course I'm a bit of a dab hand at video
...As regards the youtube channel, just my two-penneth, I understand completely that just one person could delete all the hard work from the site - and so the system must be vetted. My idea was to simply look at the persons ranking based on forum posts, and superstars and other notable persons would apply to gain access to the youtube site (maybe through a special VIP area?, or maybe just an application process), for: compo videos, walkthrus, music demos, machine spec documentaries, slideshows, personal views, amiga news etc etc - and more.
Of course that rules me out 'cus I have made only a few posts in the forums. But anyway, those that can't be trusted 100% will have to go through the mods - although I have no clue as to how the mods could obtain the videos in the first place to be able to upload them to the youtube channel - unless they used DownloadHelper through Firefox or something to rip off the videos from somewhere else??
Yeah, I'd love to see my little effort(s) on the Lemon channel, and I would also love to move my Vroom compo videos on the official channel as well... ..as there are some quite personal (unrelated to Amiga) things on my own youtube channel....
Anyway, ramble ramble, I think Chuckles is having an effect on me.. or maybe it's the sun - but yeah, SO HAPPY I made that intro video now |

Or maybe anybody who wants to submit a video could upload it to a free fileshare website where the operator of the Youtube channel (Graham, EvilC etc.) could download the video and upload it in there free time? Maybe only Graham or Evil need to have the login details.
Im seem unfair on your system Lifeschool, because even though you have a low post count, I, and many others still regard you as a reliable and trustworthy member, and that goes for other members with low counts on the site who I deem trustworthy and decent people _________________ Never trust a man with a mustache...

Not really - certainly to launch the channel an advert for the site makes sense, and we would hope it would benefit the site long-term in raising its profile and bringing in more active members, but the main purpose is really for members to create and upload any Amiga-related videos they like, whether that's gameplay vids, reviews, showing off demos, or anything interesting and/or amusing. There's no real specified format though so there's a lot of freedom here. It really will be what people make it. _________________ Lemon/EAB Super League 2013: Round 6 - Arcade Pool

Away for a day or two and all the action happens - good job lifeschool.. can I ask.. would it be too much trouble to have the Lemon Amiga stuff either moved to the the beginning OR Or have a shorter version available also - from about 3:51 onwards?
(the latter probably preferable) - both vids would be posted.
Once we have a intro vid in place I'll publish in the news section.
Thanks again for the effort _________________ Please refer all site and database related matters directly to me - incl. missing games, links, screenshots and suggestions. |

@EC: Sure I could split the Lemon section off if that's what's best all round. It's only a 19 second extro, so I can't see why this would be pefered - but anyway. I added the lemon section basically to say 'if you wanna see more, here we are.' If I split it off perhaps I wouldn't still need to put 'visit us at Lemon Amiga' at the end anyway?
Or perhaps you'd like to keep it as a general extroduction for every video posted online - for group continuity/integrity - and I could make the 19 sec advert freely downloadable for inclusion in all later video projects??
Edit: If this is a neat idea, here's a link to the advert for all to use (right-click, save as...). I could post it in 'The Zone' but I don't think EAB would be happy with that

The channel is registered and available - I think Mr Humphrey is/will contact you about it. I think for the first vid the end part of what you created would do well. Though the vid in its entirety is good - it is perhaps too long for a short "Hey, welcome to Lemon Amiga etc" purpose.
I think all other vids could have a small logo/overlay throughout - or something similar. _________________ Please refer all site and database related matters directly to me - incl. missing games, links, screenshots and suggestions. |

Update: Ok, between me and Graham we've managed to get the initial teaser trailer onto the youtube channel. I'll upload the lemon nostalgia demo (i.e the full 'wet your appitite' video) tomorrow. I'd still like the keep the lemon stuff at the end of the demo, but if you think its best not to, I'll chop off the last 5 seconds ('visit us at...') and call that the end.
Right, I think I deserve a night in, see you tomorrow. |
