hehe, - wasn't there also a version with a live grenade as the ball - that was a funny coverdisk!
Anyway, whatever gets voted I'll play.

When you say SWOS, which version do you mean? Does SWOS 96/97 count?
I agree later versions of the game play better. My latest suggestion was 96/97 and the top seven teams in the PL that year. I had thought that that was the idea we were going with but re-reading Graham's post it seems to be saying that we would be playing SWOS.
So I am willing to agree that 96/97 would be a better version to play and would like to put forward that suggestion again. |

Yeh, as long as it SWOS rather than SS. Oddly I never played 96/97, or even the previous incarnation, I was just obsessed with the original SWOS.
*edit* sorry just seen the EAB thread on this and I see it's already been aired...
When you say PL, is that the premier league? If so then yes. How do you feel about the player picking their own team? I just thought that would add a little something extra to the comp. |

| I have no problem with that, as long as the opponents are the same for everyone. I think on EAB I said it was the same as letting people pick their own characters when we played Chaos Engine. |

...yeh I just read your bits on the EAB thread and totally agree. We've been allowed to make charachter choices before where the stats and playing styles are different.
Ok cool. Well lets just hope SWOS eventually gets voted in. I've got a feeling it would be a massively competitive round! |

Ok, so 96/97 is settled.
Another question is - do we have all players equal on or off? That makes a big difference. |

That's a shame because if we voted on then the matter of which teams we pick would be irrelevent!
But yes I vote off as well. |

Could be wrong in which case I vote off too. |
I think you're right Graham. I thought the option was even titled "All Player Teams Equal" but then I'm usually wrong on these things. |

I'm asking myself if anyone ever heard of our great site sensiblesoccer.de . There we have national and international competitions, we often meet for playing offline in different countries. We're playing SWOS 96/97, meet on a server, and even play some small leagues with 4 players logged in at the same time.
We have a world ranking for different SWOS versions like 96/96, Xbox SWOS (on offline tounreys only), Classic Sensible Soccer and even SEGA Sensi
It's a huge adminstration to do to manage more than 10,000 members (around 150-200 are active players) and all the leagues.
Feel free to ask questions if you have any. It's definitely worth a visit.
Yours
Jon |

Looks like Sensi is proving a popular vote.
Can I just take the opportunity to ask for clarification over how it will be played?
As I understand it:
Version will be 96/97
League competition
7 Premier League Teams
You get to pick the 8th (your team)
The 7 opposition PL teams will be the top 7 finishing of 1996/1997 actual league?
Is that correct? |

Sensible World of Soccer 96-97 (1996)(Renegade)[cr HF](Disk 1 of 2)[a2]_001 by Linesmachine, on Flickr
Just a quick blast to see how things stack up with the current Sensible Soccer structure for the next round.
I played as Blackburn Rovers and won 6 and lost 1. The game I lost was against Aston Villa, which is odd. Normally I lose against Man Utd in this set up.
As it stands it will definitely go down to goal difference. Even I am going to eventually have a flawless 7 games without loss.
As for players choice of teams; Blackburn will prove popular as they have good strong skills throughout the entire team, they are probably the highest skill level outside of the top 7. However, there is no one on 5 star level so no star players essentially. If you go with, say, Southampton then Le Tissier can prove a huge asset up front on his own. He really is that good.
Anyway, looking forward to playing for real now. |
