Another great vid love how detailed and interesting your playthroughs are, is this knowledge accumalated over the years or just well researched before you make a vid? Either way its brilliant!
A Syndicate playthrough would be awesome and I'd love to hear your opinions on Milleniums Robin Hood game! _________________ Check out my blog RGO below, latest post now up!

It's a mixed bag. Sometimes I have knowledge of the game from sources such as magazines and interviews, little bits of trivia like that. I also make a few notes before I start each review: like the magazine scores/ratings and what they said about the game listed as bullet points. I find out which games the authors are previously famous for, and which games they went on to make using the Lemon database. I often take a look at the material that is already online - like Jim Plays Games or Inept Games Reviews etc, and see how I can improve on what they did. Then I take a look at the Wiki page in case any of that info happens to be correct. Sometimes I study longplay videos (on rare occasions) and of course I play the game to get the tips and hints.
Basically the whole review is unscripted and I make it up as I go along. Some things I remember is I go, some things I forget - like in Speedball 2 I forgot to stand right next to a rebound globe in the centre of the playfield and hammer the firebutton for a quick top-up score. If I forget to do that while playing the game it's hard to remember to mention it in the review.
Above all I try to make each video flow smoothly and make it as interesting as I can. As soon as the review lags I'll either speed up the footage to get on with it, or change the subject I'm talking about and introduce something fresh, or put graphics comparisons up there or the intro anim or something to spice things up a bit. And of course with maximum reverence to the game in question; - I really don't like to focus on any negative points as there are already plenty of reviews out there focusing on bad amiga games. Like in Speedball 2, I didn't like to mention that Speedball 2 Tournament is a bit naff graphically as it spoils the image of the game and may tarnish future sales, so I tried to counter-balance that was a positive note about Speedball 2 Evolution. Always end on a positive.
Another note: If there is already a great review out there for an amiga game - much better than I could do for that particular game - I won't be making a review for it. Some great examples include:
Excellent Reviews
The Lost Patrol - by Retro Gamer
Fire and Ice - by phreakindee
Very Funny / Great Reviews (contains swearing)
Beverly Hills Cop - Part 1 - by filmnstuff
Beverly Hills Cop - Part 2 - by filmnstuff
Terminator 2 - Part 1 - by filmnstuff
Terminator 2 - Part 2 - by filmnstuff
Red Heat - by filmnstuff

Syndicate? - absolutely no problem! I know that game inside out. I'll certainly be placing this title high on my to-do list. As for Robin Hood... phooey - it's an RPG. I hate RPGs. Sorry, you'll have to watch this one instead:
Robin Hood Review
Adventures of Robin Hood - by Lorfarius
cheers
btw, those guys who requested Gods - I made a start on it last year but I couldn't get off the second world. As soon as I get beyond that point I'll finish off the review.
edit2: Anybody remember the prize draw at the end of the Legends of Valour review? - where I offered a PCMCIA drive and 4 GIG card for donations?? Well, nobody donated a cent ( ), so I still have this prize package if anybody wants it. View here. Say £30 all in? PM me if interested. |

| lifeschool, if I can make some more requests, I think it would be very awesome if you made videos of the three Shadow of the Beast games... they're such classic/notorious (depending on who you ask) Amiga games, and there are lots of versions for comparisons etc... would be a lot of fun and very interesting to watch! |

Still some time to go but that's gonna be the next one. |

Crikey - don't set yourself a challenge or anything.
Enjoyed the Speedball, and some of the tips will probably help me do better. _________________

Yeah but all those longplays are SILENT! (i.e. no commentary). To me there is nothing more boring than watching a silent longplay. My videos are not always longplays but actually game guides and reviews, some are quite short.

Thanks for the feedback. The video has already been ripped and needs to be converted and edited. I have about 2 hours of footage to wade through and I still have more to add to give the player a real insight into the deeper aspects of the gameplay. I could probably have it ready by the end of this week but I don't have any more upload/download capacity this month so it might end up going up there next month instead. As you well know I do enjoy a challenge! Hope it is worth the wait. |

Seems like some sort of communication error more than anything, whoever the user was who reported cubex went about it the wrong way. Unfortunatley it looks like its very easy to get a users account closed down, I hope they haven't lost all their stuff. _________________ Check out my blog RGO below, latest post now up!

Exactly, Youtube seems to have a guilty until proven innocent policy, all it takes to remove a channel is a DMCA claim. _________________ Never trust a man with a mustache...

The good news is that Cubex55's site is now back on youtube after the misunderstanding was cleared up and the complainer withdrew his complaint. Very good indeed. |

Phew, I was searching for longplays the other day and realized just how much they'd contributed. Really missed it.
And great call on the Elite vids - never seen them before - a good watch. _________________

^ Thanks, I knew you'd like them.
I've been downloading a lot of vids off youtube recently, plenty of great reviews out there. I particularly want to mention Filmnstuff - who is hilarious, and Jim Plays Games - both of whom are linked on the LemonTubeAmiga home page.
