so who's as excited as i am to play the game?and will you be getting the standard version (i'm getting the 360 standard game).or are you rich and splashing out on the collector's edition. Link _________________ amiga forever (as well as c64)!!!!
I've bought collector's editions before, but the Skyrim one just doesn't have the appeal. Nevertheless, got my preorder for the regular version in at GAME, and a new system on the way to play it on!
I have to say I really liked the depth of Oblivion to begin with - great graphics, massive map, and a feeling of real freedom as an adventurer. If anything it was TOO BIG, and I realised that I could spend the best part of a month simply levelling up to be able to take on the missions - and maybe a whole year to beat the game.
In the end I abandoned the game as it gave me the feeling of wasting my life in the futility of levelling up and endlessly plodding around - and not really getting anywhere. One might spend a whole evening wandering around the same dungeon: trying to figure out what the heck you are supposed to be doing, getting stuck, getting lost, and unable to remember how to get out again. No other game has ever shown this level of futility - even though, as I say, the feel and depth of the gameplay was really stunning. I really don't think I'll be buying the sequel...

As a non console owner I never realised the hype about skyrim was so widespread. Big boards up in London next to the roads and several people at work are booking time off to play it!

Love it - taking time for a long weekend in Skyrim. We're getting ever closer to Better Than Life.
I wonder if I'm missing out too? I've never played an RPG. I finally got a copy of Dragon Age Origins, but haven't tried it yet. The idea of free roaming in Oblivion and Skyrim sounds appealing, or maybe the ads are getting to me. _________________ Lemon/EAB Super League 2013 - Round 7: Risky Woods

Really? Wow. The Amiga had so many good dungeon crawlers (DM, EOB Bloodwych etc) that I'm surprised anyone could have avoided playing one.
As for more modern RPGs, the only thing I play is the Half Life series and currently the new Deus Ex game. I appreciate that many will get all righteous and declare that these aren't technically RPGs and yes, I'd have to agree in part. I really wanted Space Marine to be a high detail, RPG style shooter but it ended up just a scmup really.

Pretty much. I tried the Hired Guns demo disk when it was released for 5 minutes and died a few times over. I played about 3 minutes of Shadow Worlds before getting distracted. And as far as modern style RPGs go, never touched one. Keep meaning to try one properly, but I'll steer clear of Elder Scrolls 2 because I read it's twice the size of britain with randomly generated content and half a million NPCs. Scary! _________________ Lemon/EAB Super League 2013 - Round 7: Risky Woods

Yesterday I tried Skyrim and I seemed to be playing Oblivion, the improvement is not very noticeable despite the years.Anyway the game is a show and turned into Spanish, despite the many dialogues. _________________ A1200 Escom+Blizzard 1230 MK-IV+64mb fastram +CF 8GB->IDE+OS 3.1+ClassicWB Full

Puuuh. I know the package is already somewhere here in the house but I have to wait till Christmas. I know my mum bought it for me. So sweet, I never told her I wanted this game.
The trailers are amazing and I've tried a little bit at my friend's.

well it is a serious improvement over oblivious, which was just a lore derped mess.
it got its flaws (like world event interaction, i win the game, no one cares and still say the war is on, i am lord over 2 guilds and savior of the city, still guards call me a freak etc etc) but it is a step in the right way for Bethesda.
but i still want it to be Todd they behead in the intro. _________________ SSI, Might & Magic and Ultima Veteran.

In Oblivion you could go horse riding in first person view,it can not be in Skyrim.Skyrim is superior to Oblivion but I'm an defender of Oblivion, the game laid the foundations of Skyrim with a very similar gameplay,I had not played anything like it so far, incredible sandbox game. _________________ A1200 Escom+Blizzard 1230 MK-IV+64mb fastram +CF 8GB->IDE+OS 3.1+ClassicWB Full
