I recently had to do this repair on my A4000. I used lemon juice to neutralise the alkaline (a real lemon, not synthetic stuff) and then used pcb cleaner from Maplin to clean it all up.

Im really not sure why folks use lemon juice, it's acidic too! (ever heard of citric acid?) Rolling Eyes

Get medical or electronics grade Isopropyl Alcohol and use that with cotton tips or/and a toothbrush to remove the battery acid.

The battery doesn't have acid in it - it is alkaline. Hence why you use lemon juice, which is acidic and neutralises the alkaline on the motherboard (you will see it fizz.)

Then you just use a bit of PCB cleaner to wash both off. But you need the acid to remove any corrosion.
