Yeah, you guys read my comment right. And I didn't vote for PP Hammer either, lol. Picked up some decent league points though.
Don't remember seeing you in the league before akabei - good to meet you and aca0808. Fresh meat for the games.
PS I like Deluxe Galaga and Superfrog but ain't gonna vote for them. |
I often vote for games I haven't played, and thus have no idea how good they are. As I've always said; for me the comp is a good platform to discuss "new" games and broaden my Amiga experience. Back in the day I tended to buy very few games (I didn't have much pocket money!) and then play them to death. I had to be really picky, reading all the magazine reviews to death....but that was all part of the fun!
Anyway my point is that whoever said about getting votes in early in order to increase that games chance of getting voted in...well that works with people like me, I'll ALWAYS see what's trending before I put my own vote, and I'll often look a few of them up on HOL. |

Totally agree with that. The best discoveries for me have been Super Obliteration and All Terrain Racing and maybe Mean Arenas and Super Hang On too. Anyone who likes Pang should seriously check out Super Obliteration - it's better. Hidden gem. _________________

I'd never played Vroom, Nitro or Superfrog. I'd only ever played a demo of Chaos Engine.
It's cool. If it weren't for the comp then I'd just boot up Dungeon Master and Super Cars II once a year for nostalgic purposes...and that would be about it! |

That was why I had stopped voting, gives me a chance to play some games I had never played before, but I am doing so poor in the comp and it was an open round so I tried to vote in games we had already played and knew I was good at.

Best discoveries for me have been Alien Fish Finger, Yo! Joe!, Zeewolf (even if it is a bit slow on an A500), Pac-Mania, Globdule and Nitro.

If it weren't for the comp I would probably only play Duck Tales: The Quest for Gold, Oh No More Lemmings (cos it is 1 disk) and Pang |

I'm also happy to be introduced to new games, but often the games I know well get a supercharge when they are played in competition. My fav rounds have been Vroom, Zeewolf, Yo Joe, The Chaos Engine and Robocod. I'd never got anywhere on Chaos or Robo before the comp, so was surprised to be right up there.
As for voting, I often try to anticipate the mood before making a vote. If a genre hasn't been played for a while I may promote five games of that genre hoping to ignite a bit of interest. Last round felt like time for a driving game. This coming round felt like it could either be a shooter or another pinball game (it's that time of year) so I wasn't surprised when a shooter happened to win. Sometimes I'll go along with other folks and sometimes others go along with me. In the next round I'll just pick 5 random (popular voted) games and see which ones rise to the top. As long as the game is popular I know the votes stand a good chance of amounting to something good.
I already suggested to the mods how about we use a few new themed rounds in the season (sports, driving, s.e.u, puzzle, fighting, arcade etc) instead of all these open rounds - but it didn't fly with them, so I'm happy to just vote and see what happens. |

Nothing wrong with having a genre voting session, I also make similar considerations and (although it might not look like it) do put a decent amount of thought into my votes. Often, whilst at work I might make a note of what's already been voted for that round, and then spend the day thinking about it before comitting fingers to keyboard and typing "Revenge of the Mutant Camels". |

| If its a special round then you have to think about, otherwise i copy my votes from previous rounds or just copy LinesMachine minus any rubbish he may not have taken the time to consider properly. |

| I surely joined too late to complete Buggy Boy but I'm wondering what is the next game we will play? Is it decided? |
