Yeah! no more excuses about only battling it out for 2nd position. Or are you now resigned to playing for 3rd? Cool

Thanks guys, although I will aim for a hihger score.

One criticism about the game tho'..
Game cheats! Very Happy
Anybody else noticed when you buy strong weapon suddenly much more weapon icons (single, double, triple shot) starts to fall off the aliens? Maybe it's just murphy's law, but I doubt it. Smile
For example first 10 levels you don't see a single weapon icon, then you buy plasma gun or higher and suddenly major weapon falling. It would be so less stresfull if there wouldn't be any lesser weapon droppings from the current weapon you have. Cause it can pisses you of when everything starts so perfectly, then you buy the biggest gun for 3000 money and next level accidentaly pick up single shot with no money to spare. At this point you can only give up.
The lesson would be; don't spend all money at once, always spare something extra so if such calamity happens, you can always buy some better weapon again.

Again, picking single shot accidentally has cost me even greater score. After level 200 there's no way you can get through few levels till next warp and shop, unless beeing very lucky with a single shot.

Anyway, few more hints:

Extra Time doesn't only prolong the arrival of the destroyer, but also prolong the time of all icons which are not permanent, such as x2, x5, shield and scooper. That's why extra time is relatively expensive in shop (1500) cause it can help you a lot on many occasions. Even in memory maze you have more time.

For example, I had picked up and bought so many extra times so when I picked up shield it could lasted for entire section of levels, till next warp, even for a minute long.

Also, as already said when at admiral rank and having all ranks in shop, if you buy an extra rank and you still have x5 you will gain 5 millions just for buying this extra rank! Very handy. Happened to me only once this run tho'.

Evenmore, on this I'm not totaly sure how it works, but if you buy all ranks and one extra rank after last visit in shop where you gain one million for extra rank bought at admiral rank, you will gain another million where you still hold the admiral rank and could do so with every next shop visit if you have enough money to buy all the ranks + 1 additional. This only works if you do so on every shop visit that follows, otherwise ranks will be reset and starting from the first one.

But there's a catch.. It seems you can pick a random colour or a letter in the game and will say "sucker" and it will take all of colours or letters you had by then, resulting your "1 million admiral extra rank combo" will be reset also.

50,319,190

P.S.
Had about 10k's of money when I died, which gave me another million on bonus.

IIRC, that's happened to ScHlAuChi in the Amiga longplay, as well.
btw: 50 million? Shocked

Tips are one thing but actually gaining the right bonuses and the right item drops is as random as raindrops in the desert. I tried a grand total of 20 times yesterday to break the 1 million mark but failed. Just couldn't get the item drops. I've also seen the dedication of some of the masters of this game and I'm not in their league on this one. Smile So I'm perfectly happy to get whatever I get. Wink Like I'm not LEADING the Championship or anything. Laughing I'll just sit back and see what happens the round. I'll be happy with at least 5 points. I'm certainly not going to go all out on this one like BB, that's just a fact!!

10million on level 39 is pretty amazing. Still don't know how you do that. Admiral million ranks?

Not quite 2nd place, but will have to do for now. Will have time for a proper go at the weekend and go for 1st place.

Think we will be seeing scores around 100m by the end of the round.

Yes premmisseth. I was trying to get the 1 million every warp, got 2m a couple of times by getting the times 2 just before warp. But no x5 unfortunately.

I chose to go for super weapon this time, and think I prefer it to plasma etc. Its cheaper and so gives you more money to build up your armour, get the admiral millions etc. And I think it makes the harder levels much easier as you often get forced to the side and find it hard to get back into the middle. When you are on the side, weapons like plasma are next to useless. But with super weapon you can still hit things.

I have a few questions:

Does anybody know what the numbers / arrows mean in the top left corner. On my screen it's just four arrows but I notice on Chris's screenshot they are numbers 2239. Also what does C2 mean in the upper right corner? Level 2 - e.g. 'Normal' level?

That is the system time, pal Cool Not sure with arrows atm. Maybe for amigas not equipped with RTC?
And 'C' shows the number of credits left, important for this compo BTW.

There are also music notes on the upper left corner . I think those are if you set sound on music and arrows if you have set sound without music.

Thanks for the help guys. Just tried again, 1.5 million by level 47. Not good. I had x4 lives and x2 armour and plasma weapon but picked up a darn double shoot by mistake. Luck of the draw I guess. I made good money in the meteor storm and by shooting the pirate ship with plasma.
